Will an aluminim front cross member from a late 70-early 80's 911 fit my 914? Thanks, Mark

yup

yup

But i'm not a fan, FWIW ... I've seen them flex.

The stock (or 911) steel unit works just fine and the weight savings are marginal at best and at one of the lowest points in the chassis.

I sold my aluminium one years ago and went back to a steel crossmember.

yup, and if you get the cross member make sure you get the two braces that bolt to it. On the steel cross member they are welded on.

where did it flex? under what conditions? how were you witness to the flex event?

The rack/master cylinder protection plate from the 914 will not fit with the aluminum crossmember if you're attached to keeping the plate.

I saw it. Brad saw it. Rich Bontempi saw it.

Moving the steering left and right you could see it twist....
