I wouldn't change my alternator because ,it wasn't that bad.
I charge the battery up, good for a day
But the trip to Moab may be a bit much on the old system
Hauling a trailer probley didn't help either (Dumbass)
And I never changed out an alt. with engine in car.
Pretty easy to drop the motor. (when I was young)
So read some info. McMark wrote.very helpful.
I tackle the job with faith, I won't get mad.
yeah, right
many hrs later I'm ready to put it all together,
Finally I see light at the end of the tunnel
as I tighen up the the bolt on the bottem,
I notice the tin is still flapping
I find this
For years, I've had this sound I couldn't identify
Not consistent, hard to track down.
So I'm a Dumbass, because if I gotten off my fat ass and fixed the dam alt.
My trip home from Moab would have been nice.
Also while listening to the motor, sounds better w/o the weird noise!
I started to train myself to feel the motor while running.
Using a large srcewdriver w/o handle I used it as a stethoscope
I can feel the cam spinning/the fuel injectors clicking/the alt spinning
While toying around I did notice a loose wire, my dam engine temp wire!
So if I replaced my alt sooner, I would have found my loose wire! (Dumbass)
Now I'm home, had a great day of driving the 914 a bit
I think I can forgive myself, it's GREAT to have the the Beauty running like bat outa hell!
I am glad you finally realized your position in society.
I wish I could hear.
Take you right hand and pat yourself on the shoulder. You got it fixed until the next dumb ass problem comes up.
It had to have been the hair!
Told ya weeks ago to replace that damn alternator!
It wasn't Kevins idea. It was his dogs. Yea, turns out his dog had been hounding him to change it for months. I've met her and she is smarter than Kevin. See you next year buddy.
