anybody got the technicals on the drain plug? im in need of one (new or used) and have been to 5 different places including vw repair shops, vw scrappers and import parts specialists and cant find one. its the holy grail of bolts apparently. the search function yielded a thread pitch of 1.5 and the bird diagram says its an m8

can anyone help? anyone between san diego and la have one? thanks for the help fellas beerchug.gif Dave

Absolutely ain't M8. I'll try to remember to measure tomorrrow. You should be able to get one at your FLAPS, but it won't look the same.

Got an extra flywheel bolt?? If so it'll thread right up!
I have the plugs if you still can't find one.

Slits isn't too far from R/C. Maybe he'll chime in. It's 12mm, IIRC. A flywheel bolt would chew up the gasket.

thanks but i was there on sunday and we couldnt locate one. so its 12 mm 1.5 any idea on the length o krusty one?

When I have had to use the flywheel bolt I didn't use a gasket.. seals like a charm.. Should only be done when you have nothing else

I was wondering if Hillco Fastners over on Western near Garden Grove Blvd might stock these, they carry just about everything else...

Dave,
Now that you have the size, why not try the local Lowes or a place called King Bolt in Covina. King Bolt carries a very large selection of fasteners. Do you know the length by any chance?
