914World.com _ 914World Garage _ CHT removal

Do I have to remove the intake runner to get my
cylinder temp sender out?
And what size socket is it?
Engine is a 1.7.

No, on the intake runners. I "think" a 13/16 spark plug socket will work. Grind one corner from a short socket extension so the wire will pass thru the top of the socket, or cut a slot in the side of the socket.

It's 13mm, there is a special socket for it or do the above. Soak it in P-oil for a couple of days and make an offering to the Porsche gods. pray.gif

If you are replacing it anyways just snip the wire off.

Amen to that. Very easy to remove aluminum threads from the head with the CHT.

what a PITA job... make sure you need to do it. i made a special socket driver out of wood with a slot for the wire to pass through it. then, just used a deep 13mm socket. the manual calls for a "socket wrench" that i've never seen.

good luck, nathan

Geeeeez - buy a 13 mm deep socket and using a dremel tool cut a slot in the side for the wire to pass thru.

If you don't have a dremel tool, use a hacksaw.

Or

cram the wire up inside the deep socket -
