I went back to the track and received the grand tour of Emerald Downs from Jim! Thanks Jim it was very interesting.

I look forward to seeing what it looks like. I pulled my old one off and man was it in baaaaad shape!
I will keep you posted of my progress.
I am pretty sure it was the problem, everything else has tested out ok.
Hey, Jonesy! I still can't tell my lfet from right or my right from wrong... I do, however have four bummerlets one of them are BOUND to be the correct side.
Now what side was it again?
It was middle top I think, or maybe bottem center
It was rear right, I got one from Kevin as he was digging thru some of the many odds and ends that he had while I was there, thanks though.
Hey just to let you know. The lighter element works great (thank you) and you will be hearing from my lawyer for the lung cancer YOU will cause.

I think Dino was looking for another rear one in decent shape!?
Jonesy, I can lend you the Djet FI tester when you get your harness also. That way you can run it thru its paces to see if there is anything else up.
Geoff

We will talk, my freind... I have some free time Sat morning... Keep in touch!
Anybody had an update from Shane? He was having brake troubles
thanks for acking, dino. this saturday is my day (no doubt all day) to figure out what in the world to do about brakes. do you have any special knowledge? davep out east has offered, very generously, his vast experience (he mentioned 20 years!), but, alas, i think i will need something closer to home. i can imagine draining brake lines, bleeding air from them, and all that. trying to imagine doing it by myself in a meagerly equiped garage, however, is a bit fuzzy. it may be as simple as a frozen e-brake line going to that caliper. or it could be buggered piston on that side. not to mention several other options, many of which i have never heard. sigh. got any advice?
she looks so sad, the little car, sitting on jack stands in the garage...
The best tool for brakes is a BIG C clamp! and a 1 by 4 chunk of wood. They make retracting the caliper much easer. The wood goes against the piston side...
I also prefer the two person method to the vaccum power bleeder.
As for the adjusting screws on the caliper, I have always regarded the as kind of a black art! One of those things you have to do a couple of times before it really makes sence...
You will be JUST fine
ok; big C clamp, 1x4 block. can i take it apart and put it back together without a new bunch of seals? or do i need one of those "caliper rebuild kits" from tweeks or someplace else? and brake fluid; what kind, and is it locally available? or do i order it?
these, and many other questions, are being asked by me in my sleep, fer cryin'outloud.
Unless the boot is torn or you are leaking fluid, you shouldnt need a rebuild kit already... DOT 3 or 4 fluid from FLAPS should be good enuff. Just try to match what is already in there, if you don't know, I would go with the dot4 and flush the system...
Also, brake fluid goes bad sitting on the shelf after you remove the foil seal...
dino, you are hereby promoted to local expert. you will be my hero if all this works out as you so optimistically envision. btw, i sent you a pm. i have to get gretel (i am trying out names for the little p-car) off the jack stands, and soon!
Gretel might turn you into a St Pauly Girl!!
I may not have the Jake or Brad level of motor skillz, but brakes I know!
We will get you sorted out, Shane!
shane, spring for some speed bleeders. from pelican, or you can get them from austin's promax in tacoma. but they still have to order them for you.
kevin
Kevin,
what, exactly, would speed bleeders do for me? make bleeding faster? i may need that eventually, but you overestimate, i think, my grasp of what is going on in that little caliper.
btw, do you agree with dino's assessment of not needing a rebuild kit at this juncture? the rear calipers are shiny new (the PO had them put on). i am thinking something is simply not engaged or jammed. i need to email DaveP, as he also offered advice. as this week winds to a close, this project moves forward on the priority board.
and Dino, i remember my first girl ; do you?
I remember the First but the next ten are sorta blurry!
hmmm... i may have to offer you transportation and nourishment ( ) in exchange for technical know-how () and on-site supervision ( )... Dino, i will probably be calling you in the next day or so. heck, bremerton is but a short distance away!
