914World.com _ 914World Garage _ I have a question for any stereo guys

Posted by: ellisor3 Dec 8 2010, 09:42 AM

I am building a custom box from fiberglass. I used the mold from my foam footrest from the passengers seat. I did not want the subwoofer at someone's feet. My intent is to put the 10"subwoofer all the way to the left facing, so the back of the sub goes towards the gas petal at a 45 degree angle so to speak. I calculated the volume needed and I have the correct volume for a sealed box.

My question is: Does it matter that the sub will not sit in the center of the box? It will be positioned far left, but will have enough closed space to draw from.

Any other issues you can think of?

Thanks

James

No, the sub's position in the box does not matter. All it is doing is pressurizing the air inside the box.

As long as the box is big enough, all should be good. Prepare to be tightening down some rattles. smile.gif

In this little car, it wont matter if the design is perfectly done...
A closed box will do enough damage to shake you car.
