Replaced failing alt with fresh remaufactured one. Cleaned contacts/connections and inspected all wires throughout. After reconnecting the battery the alt warning light comes on with the key off and goes out when the key is turned on. Is there any other explaination for this other than a defective new alt? Any insight would be greatly appreciated.
Some of the rebuilt alternators have a screw too long that grounds out against the cover...and can blow the new alternator. People have to grind that one down to save the day.
Experts...can someone name the exact screw that other posts talk about??.
:....In the past have had similar symtoms..in my case it was the
ignition switch
I agree and also with the rear cover plate grounding.
Pull the voltage regulator and if the light goes out there is something going on with the alternator and I would pull the cover and check the wires
Did you recently replaced your alternator with reman one ?
Chech this thread if so.
