914World.com _ 914World Garage _ Tore down a 2.0 and have a question

Posted by: Lennies914 Jan 2 2011, 04:40 PM

I finally split the cases on my 2.0-4 and found the washer under the dizzy drive shaft wearing funny. This being my first tear down, can anyone tell me if the notched area on the bottom the drive gear is normal or not?

Thanks

Its normal. Where oil flows.

I'm not talking about the oil groove. The "notched" or "stepped" area of the gear itself.

Thanks

Looks like the ones I took from the 3 engines I took apart.

Yeah, the washer is toast.

Was there no spring under the dizzy? You want to make sure you have it. That may be the reason the washer is toast.
