So tell us more!!!!
Posted by: Elliot Cannon Jan 20 2011, 11:25 PM
The question is. Will the Hondo be there???
Posted by: Sleepin Jan 21 2011, 01:03 AM
I have a sneaking suspicion that Hondo is definitely planning on being there! I have heard that he will actually be making an unprecedented announcement of a 914 sale that will be happening this spring in Western Colorado.
I cannot wait to see everyone again!
Posted by: brant Jan 21 2011, 08:25 AM
if the kid is old enough to type and start threads.... then he should keep the 914 and just start driving it.
not white car?
Posted by: steeks Jan 21 2011, 08:32 AM
Is the route 66 run starting in Williams, Az.? Any clues as to what the route will be? I live 80 miles from Williams.
Posted by: Sleepin Jan 21 2011, 01:35 PM
Not sure exactly. I am not part of that committee... I heard rumors of Williams to Kingman....I dunno.
Posted by: SLITS Jan 21 2011, 05:29 PM
I vote for Bryce ...
Actually ... if it comes to pass ... Williams - Ashfork - Seligman - Grand Canyon Caverns*** - some funky gas station - Kingman - Oatman - Avi Injun Casino & Resort .... cirlce dem wagons as we are under attack.
But then, I am not one of the specialized planners.
*** lots of snow in the depths, but I didn't have a straw.

I hope it's Williams. Cool town.
Posted by: Sleepin Jan 23 2011, 09:19 AM
Val and I are contemplating doing what Vegasracer is doing and going down Thursday the 31st. That way we can buy the package deal to ride the train to the South Rim. That could be a good time!
Posted by: Gint Jan 23 2011, 03:16 PM

Posted by: steeks Jan 25 2011, 08:55 AM
Just don't plan on staying at the hotel right by the train station, I took my son to see Thomas the Tank Engine there a few years back, Got no sleep at all with the trains going through all night. There are several hotels a little ways down the road that would be a much better option.

Been there about 5 times .... it's the "Big Ditch" according to my kids.
If you were doing it by car, I would tell you to stop at the IMAX and watch the film first. I'm pretty sure the train drops you at the Village. Cost for entrance to the park is like $25 each or $25 per car .... can't remember, but I am old and get in free ...................

It is coming together:
Friday night dinner - with Mr. Sharp manning the grill. Joe, let us know what your track fees are for the dinner.
Friday night hotel arrangements - TBD but info out soon!
Saturday breakfast - There is a great breakfast place that has plenty of room right in Williams. Plan on 9:14 arrival and eating so we can hit the road.
Saturday drive - Still a work in progress but looks like Rt66 over to the GRAND CANYON CAVERNS. They have a 25 minute tour available for about $15. Looks cool for those interested.
From there continue to Laughlin via downtown Oatman. Lunch will be either in Oatman or Kingman. Actual seat time is a little over 3 hours from Williams to Laughlin.
Saturday night dinner - TBD(John Peterson)
Saturday Hotel - Looks like we will be at THE AVI CASINO. John Peterson is locking it down for us.
Awards - Mr. Luurs
Stickers - Mr. Wills
TShirts - Mr. Peterson
And its about that simple. Looks to be a great run this year!
Mr. Admin, could you highlight this thread please?

HONDO and all,
If we can only get there Sunday at 10, will there still be some kind of event going on near the Grand Canyon?
We work on Saturdays, and may be able to leave OC, CA at 2 or 3
Not wanting to miss the cavern tour, but something is better than nothing
Please advise,
Thanks!

John,
By Saturday night, the crew will be in Laughlin, NV on the Colorado River. The GC Cavern stop would probably be around noon on Saturday. Of course you could meet us in Laughlin and then head out on your own if ya wanna.

I would have Andy, but the key wouldn't really work in the door of the "shitty flea-bag hotel". So, trusting my fellow NARPsters (obviously, I am totally out of my mind), I left the door unlocked.

Jim - we're doing a transaxle swap (tail-shifter to side-shifter), a fresh 2L engine I recently purchased from Enrique, new S/S fuel lines (hopefully), new tires and general tidying-up ... she's been sitting under a cover for a few years.

-Install new stereo with USB/AUX/HDRadio (today after golf
)
-Install Triad muffler bitches!
-Install new bumper tops if I get them in time
-Wash & Wax
Well I got drunk at golf so I didn't get the stereo and trunk hinge done.
I did get the old stereo out at least! FUCHing with that trunk torsion bar has me afraid.. very afraid.

I am hoping the white car will be ready. I had some melted fuel lines due to some DAPO wiring (yes, smoke...damn near fire).
Luckily socalandy came through with an extra set of Tangerine lines (I mean really? Who else would just so happen to have an extra set of Tangerine SS lines just sitting in the box?) which were put on a FedEx truck a couple hours after it happened!
She is sitting like this now, just waiting for the new lines to get in:

Andy's a pretty good guy. I'm glad you didn't have more of that smoke stuff, yowzers!

Hats off to Andy!
Suggestion, Get some shrink tube and slide it over the SS lines. Should you ever have a wire fray in the tunnel it can't arc on the fuel line. We has a local surplus store that sells all kinds of sizes in like 3' lengths.

Brandy, I can smell it but I can't sip it. It gets about half way to my stomich and triggers a gag reflex.
Have fun fella's and watch out for the other guy.

Here's how to avoid hang-overs for the rest of your life. Drink a fifth of Cutty Sark scotch on your 21st birthday. If you don't die that night and you do not kill yourself the next morning, you will not drink enough to be hung-over again EVER!
Cheers, Elliot
PS To this day, I cannot even stand the smell of scotch.
Hmm... that sounds like a CHALLENGE for this weekend !!

Lol, one guy working, and three guys sitting around 'supervising'?
Mark, this is the part where you tell us how awesome that engine is! Are you going to have enough time to 'break it in'?

Wrong Buffalo Breath .... Mark does not "break things in", he just breaks*** them!!!
*** He has a fondness for breaking things with a VW logo on them.

Them ATS's don't look too bad from right about that distance Jason ... just don't get too much closer. The tires have more tread than the ones currently on the car.
Break it in? ... You told me it had 200 miles on it already
Looks like I might be going in a TOYOTA again after all?
VW, schme-W ...

BS.. break it in on the way over. Just keep the revs down, right?

No Sir, I did not.
I even answered this question twice on the original for sale posting, posts #10 and #20. I've posted a link to the ad below.

If anyone is east bound on interstate 40 in the Mojave desert tomorrow afternoon and a little yellow car wooshes by with some a$$hole driving with a big grin on his face.
Heh heh, that would be me.
(Unless of course there is a black and white Ford Crown Vic. close behind). Then you'll see an a$$hole with a frown.
Cheers, Elliot

The Yellow Zonker will be in Kingman before the Green Globber is out of the Palm Springs city limits.
Especially with THOMAS's big ass in it.

Well, farkenschiezz! With all these high horsepower machines hitting the road I may just have to wash my car. Dirt causes drag ya know. Maybe I'll wax it with Slick 50.
Not to worried though ... my new wheels added 40 HP and 50 MPH. I'll be able to cruise at the speed limit now.
I plan on running in stealth mode.

I just assumed you knew that dusting off the car implied that the trailer would be prepped as well.

Just dusting it off ... shame ... You do realize that Jason created an Award for the best looking trailer .... maybe you should acquire a trailer to trailer your trailer and cover it with blue painter's tape to avoid bugs and stone chips. Major BLING ya know.

Oh Gods of Porsche ... I pray that you will look upon me favorably, make my engine sing, and allow me to make it there and back without incidents and keep the wind at my back at all times.
I promise to sacrifice a Miata and Fiat X1/9 to win your favor.
