June in Stockton huh....got AC?
June works for me. It will be hot. If you are staying at Jeff's I'm sure we'll be doing some time on the water anyhow. If for any reason the dates don't work out to stay with Jeff, you're welcome at my place as well. I'm right around the corner and on the water.
Sorry no airline miles though.
Someone had miles and the less it cost me to get there the less people I need to afford to make it happen It is Sun, which is a slow World day.
As for dates, I can rotate either or since now Noel is not going to be in classes this summer and can come out for vacation to the PNW either time. She may come out for Stockton as well to visit family in SJ.
I can do either of those, I think.. I got a nice core from someone doing a subaru conversion sittin' in my garage that could use freshening.
I would be intersted in at least watching your clinic (not sure if mine needs rebuilt, haven't driven the car yet). Hopefully I'll have it running and find out before, so I'll vote for June, might need the extra time.
build it now, or build it later for more $$$
Mike, Are you going to bring any of your video's with you I would like one. I took your clinlic at McMarks shop in Napa. Thanks John
John, I can not guarantee that I will have any left by then. I have only a few now and I sell a few a week. At that rate, probably not. You can get one now for $40 shipped I am shameless.
More info:
I will always advise a look-see inside the box. If anyone brings a box that doesnt need a rebuild (not happened yet that I remember), pay for a seal kit, reseal the box, and take back your $300 No need to pay if you dont need to build. Right?
My house is available!! I think Disco-bay will have lots of attendees!! I know Me, Lennie & mayby the other Jeff and Jeeper John have trans needs!!
Sounds good, lets discuss particulars behind the scenes. Are you the one that originally volunteered and posted that nice pic of your back deck???
Either of those weekends sound okay for me. I will have a transmission to go through. Out of curiousity, what is the timing on the workshop? Is it a one-day thing either Saturday or Sunday? Friday night and Saturday? Two-days, both Saturday and Sunday?
Sat all day and Sun all day. I have never had anyone left behind
First post updated to reflect venue and dates! This is gonna happen. The place is OUTSTANDING! More later after I talk to the proprietor.
I will be rebuilding a trans in the future, but $300 seems a little steep. I guess the question I have is will the clinic have more benefits than the CD I purchased?
I'm sure the G/F would love to have you over.
My backyard.

I'm on the lake portion though, electric boats only. I'll check on those dates tonight!
Mike,
What is typical cost on parts that need replacing?
Im not sure if I want to fork the cost to rebuild my box... Im changing trani's sometime this year and dont think I would get it back...
I DO know that I will be attending the clinic! 45 mins from my house? Hell ya. I may even have my car done by then. (Why do events always have to be in hot weather? Arg..)
Early June shouldn't be too hot. Probably upper 80's. DB usually gets a nice delta breeze. July and august can cause your ear wax to melt...
I don't have a trans to rebuild but would like to sit in and watch and listen.
Would this be ok?
I'm in!!!
There is really a place called Disco Bay?
Do they have a big mirrored ball in the town square?
Rich
For those who are on the fence, here is the back yard photo again!

Andy, for you only, bring it and we can monkey with it. I promise nothing, but bring dyechem. At worst, you will need to have to have it readjusted.
Andy, I'll PM you.
For the others, it is happening so it is time to get your funds in order. Parts are first come first served and the good used 1st gear sliders are the 1st to dry up. Already have one sold to the first participant I do refund purchase prices on parts not needed. I will guide you and generally it is only one part that may need refunding.
I recalculated the parts cost and $740 is the top normal if you need a bearing and score a good used first. If you buy a new 1st slider it will cost more, of course. The $740 price is for the following (all used except the seal kit):
2 dog teeth
2 bands
1 pinion bearing
1 1st slider
Seal kit
Tuition
If you do not need the bearing then it is $650. Not bad, eh? If you have to buy a new 1st slider I work with you to keep prices down on what I have control over. I have a few good sliders for sale, only sold one for this clinic about an hour ago.
first post edited with more info on what goodies are included.
Worth every penny...

I'm in. Do you want PayPal for the tuition? I'd rather do it now and get it out of the way. Plus it makes it more difficult for other plans to intercede! If we can pay now, is there a PayPal account?
And is it best to estimate parts costs and pay now to get your lowest prices, refundable if not needed.
I would like to watch, but if I can source a trans and H gearset by that time, I'd like to rebuild.
Paypal charges too much in fees. Personal checks are fine, or MO. The $740 is best price until the parts are gone, then it becomes what ever I can get new replacements for, or if I can source more good used. For payment info, PM me and I will get you on the list and assemble a parts package. Yes, I do refund parts prices if not needed.
In the past, I have had people pull their gear stacks (those that had them out to do so) and take pics so I could tell them what they needed. Instructions for pulling the stack are in my rebuild link in my sig.
I think I will come watch. My tranny doesn't need rebuilding. I just need to swap my nose cone. I do have a core tranny to donate (minus nose cone) output hubs are missing.
Dr. Evil, did you get your flight taken care of? PM me if there is a problem with the "miles guy", I can get you here on Southwest for 0$
Disco theme, huh
I do like me some disco!
Please NO disco!!
I do have a goldenrod leisure suit
I'm going to the thrift store for some polyester. I hope there will be plenty of refreshments.
Wow, I was thinking all white, but the gear oil wouldn't blend. I think I like it. Maybe I'll find a big BOOM box at the thrift store for my Bee Gee's cassette.
Wow, sounds like we are bringing back the old swinger days db was famous for!
I have taken care of the Evil flight for Mr & Mrs Evil. They will fly into Oakland from Pittsburgh Friday? before the Evil Event. Dr. Evil will confirm dates with me. Does the Dr. need an Evil ride to the Disco?
We are going to rent a car for the week so I that the missus can get around to see friends and family.
Mike, I already rebuilt my tranny at McMarks clinic, but will be putting it in a 3.2-6 conversion, what re-gearing would you suggest? or would it be okay with stock gears? If I don't do the clinic, I might come and watch. John
The typical thing people like with bigger engines is a taller 5th gear for lower RPM in the form of a flipped H or HB gear set. You can get more exotic, but this it the typical, easy thing. If you just want to switch a gear in a box we already built, just bring it by at no charge. The work is negligible and not worthy of a fee.
Registration fees mailed today. Will start talking parts and gearing after next payday or tax return.
Mike, That sounds great, Do I have to source out a H or HB gear set? John
Yes. I do not have any.
Hey Mike, What other gear set would be close to a "H" or "HB" would a "ZD" work? just going by what someone suggested. I have no clue about any of the gearing or cost so all help is appreciated. John
Mike,
Have not been on the world in awhile, glad to see this is happening in Discovery Bay, just west of Stockton.
I'm in, will pm you for where to send the money.
Dave
Im probably not in. Finances and a blown up engine... I can help others. Was thinking about doing a smoked pulled pork sandwiches for the event...
I'm in. Probably only for Saturday though, so will get done as much as I can then.
Well Dr. Evil, I'm looking forward to you telling me what 5th gear I have. My box was rebuilt by a former owner and a taller 5th was installed. I have a little whine in 5th, maybe a flipped H? Sometimes it is a little stif going into 2nd but no grinding. If I shift to 1st, then into 2nd, super smooth.
Hey Mike, Are you going to get rid of your "H" gear in your box? If so I would be interested in it. John
Registrations fees arriving now! I will list which ones arrive in the first post and if they reserved parts.
Okay Doc, I pulled my gear stack this today and took some pics. Hard to believe you can tell what I might need from these photos. Maybe I need to dismantle a bit more for you to see it?

A few more:

From those pics alone I see that you need:
1st teeth
2nd teeth
3rd band
2nd band
Take off 1st gear slider and photo the teeth and band. It is only one 13mm bolt.
This is your fist gear slider. The big money part. Remove it and let us see what is under it.
Attached image(s)
This one?
I think I know the answer
Attached image(s)
Your transmission lived a good life. Your 1st slider is actually reusable
Your 1st band is in good shape as well, which leads me to believe that someone was in there at one point in the last 10 years. Your 1st teeth still look shot. This is not the normal wear pattern. It usually goes: band-->teeth--> slider. This also just so happens to be the cost curve as well with the cheapest part wearing first.
Pics of the teeth on second gear slider would be helpful.
second gear would be the one in the middle of this pic?:
The shift fork doesn't want to move. It needs to move away from the intermediate plate? Do I need to move 1st or 5th, or...?
It wont shift into 2nd because it is already in 4th. You need to center the rod that actuates 4-5 and then shift into 3rd.
Other Disco Bay folks, feel free to pull your stacks and post pics here so that I can diagnose some of what you need. It will help with parts purchases
1st post updated to include Gudjem in the list
Mike,
What if you need to change out the intermediate plate. Is that something that can be done in this clinic? Isn't there a lot of fussing with pinon depth or something equally difficult sounding?
*why the intermediate plate...person who was last in my box yielded the threads on the I-plate for the plug cover on the detent ball/springs...haven't filled it yet and run it to see if it leaks or not.
Kev
Intermediate plate swap is not a problem
Alright, I think I've got it. How's this?:
The dog teeth on 2nd are worn. The band on 2nd is done. The teeth on the 2-3 slider, 2nd gear side are not visualized so I can not make a call on those. If there are pointy like on the 3rd gear side then they are OK, but I would bet not. I would recommend a replace of the aforementioned parts.
Hrm....
This would be my birthday weekend.
I could fly out and back for ~500, and just hang out and meet some of the left coast crew....
Kinda tempting....
Zach
Oooooo. Hm?
I plan on having the boat in the water by then....I know the other Jeffs is in the water now.
Your photography is pretty amazing
2-3 slider looks usable. We will swap positions with 4-5 and bee just fine.
If any of you want to pull your stacks and take pics of them and post them here, I can save you some heart ache
Hey Doc,
Between Jeff, Dave, and myself (who have not registered yet) we have at least four cores (maybe more). Would you like to look at those to see what is usable?
I only need to see the ones you are rebuilding so I can tell you what you need. At that point we can look at the other cores and see if they have parts to satisfy your needs.
The first thing to consider is if the pinion is good.
Dr.
I'm only planning to swap my tail piece. One of the mounting ears is cracked. I do have a core tranny. Where can I get the gasket kit?
BTW, have you decided when you want to fly? PM me your info when ready.
Will be in touch. For gasket kits, check out GPR Tell them I sent you. Or, I can get them for you (about the same price).
1st post updated with current paid attendees.
Also, now that I have the ability to burn my own DVDs, I will be including my transmission rebuild course DVD in the tuition for those who dont already have it I will bring them with me.
Doc, I'd like to remove the ring and pinion from the case to make cleaning easier. I take it removing, well, re-installing, the R&P is no problem, right? I just pull it out the side and put it back in the same way. Just checking before I screw it up.
Steve,
click on the rebuild link in my sig for some instructions on how to remove these items, and what to preserve when doing this. Let me know if that doesnt clear it up.
Dr. Evil
When would you be coming to Los Angeles for a clinic.
Tickets are purchased! No turning back now
Jeeper John, I sent your H gear set out today.
Herr Dr. Evil und Frau Evil ist kommend um town! Transaxle glucklich stunden.
I have some very bad news We had our scheduling meeting last night and shit got bumped around. Even though I told the upper years that I spent money and had obligations, they scheduled me for med service during my time off for this clinic and will comp me in week after next. I didnt need the week after next off!
I am so sorry about this. I guess this is what I get for trying to do too many things at once. I will of course refund all of the $$ as soon as I can regenerate it (some will be delayed, if you dont mind then speak up so I know who needs it back first).
This blows
SOOOOOOO When is the new date????
OHHHHH April Fools right
For reals??? Should I cancel your flights?
No, April fools
You are an EVIL Doctor...
Please review the 1st post to make sure you are on the list if you paid/compensated me.
I highly recommend pulling your side cover plate to inspect your pinion gear prior to the clinic to see if there will be a problem with your gear box. I have spare R/P but will not bring them with me unless I know that they are needed.
If you dont know how to pull the side cover, let me know and I will post a how to.
I'm bringing both my trannys. One is for parts although my good trany is still good(just a cracked mount). I may also have some extra parts in my spare if needed.
Okay, I got wifely approval to spend the weekend in the middle of no where playing with old porsche parts..
What do I need to do?
I have a spare, undrained trans. What do I need to do with it before bringing it over?
I've also got a decent used spare slider & 1st, if I don't need it, I'll sell it to someone who does.
Dennis
I will try to get a pictorial up on how to inspect the pinion. That is the main thing that needs to be done before.
Registered?
Please add me if it isn't too late (PM sent).
LOOK at me ROB, working on my car!
Mike, Do you know when we'll be having this clinic? or was it a real April Fool's. John
John, it was purely and april fools joke. The clinic is still on for the same time at the same place
Post # 112 is where I say it was a joke
Here is the thread on how to do a quick inspection of your pinion.

I Just noticed that this event is going to be on "Graffiti weekend", which is the annual american graffiti tribute car show that I am prepping my car to attend(the official reveal).. ARG.
Damn! Now I might be able to drive up to watch for a couple of hours (I was previously planning on coming to watch for a day), but I need to attend this the car show...
Damn..
Did you get my check? It hasn't been cashed yet , and my name hasn't been added to first post. let me know if there is any problem
Finally had a moment to get to the bank today. Will up date the first post tonight
Just harvesting some primo used parts I scored at the Hershey swap
First post updated to reflect the latest
Long time lurker here. Bought a '74 1.8L in desperate need of some TLC recently. First, let me thank everyone who has posted and is active on 914world. I have learned so much about my 914. It's simply awesome that we are keeping these great cars alive.
Sent my check in a while ago. Picked up an old used 901 side-shifter cheap. I'm hoping that I can get some replacement parts out of it, at the very least. See everyone at the clinic.
Dr.Evil: will you have extra DVDs at the clinic? The one I have skips in certain parts, making it miss a sentence or two.
By the way, I'm in Santa Clara, CA.
Fernando, I will have DVDs at the clinic. I will give you another copy then, or mail one out now if you prefer. Sorry for the recording error.
June 11 is coming quick! I don't see my name on the tuition paid list, but hopefully the good doctor will update it.
Other than what's already shown in the Haynes manual method or the pelican write-up, does anyone have some tips and tricks for dropping the transmission (+engine)? I'll have to plan this out in preparation for the class. I have all the typical garage tools: plenty of jack-stands, 2 jacks, a furniture dolly, creeper, etc.
Thanks!
fteixeira
You are good, I have been in the PNW since Fri night and busy so havent updated things. Dont worry, I will.
Yes, a transmission can be done in one day. Start time is 0900 and quit time is midnight.
First post updated with the latest numbers. I know of one more in the mail
PNW was a BLAST! This is looking to be just as kick ass!
First post updated with new attendee
GPR is sending out my gasket kits. I got 2 there cheap...
Unless I missed it, I haven't seen any information on where the clinics at other than Discovery Bay?
I'm out, due to a complicated series of events. I am sad since I had acquired a spare trans specifically for this purpose. Dr. Evil you want a "demo" trans to rebuild during the class!?!?
Dem, PM me and I will see if I can help you out.
The location is to be sent to people by the host, I think. I can provide it for those needing it as I do have it but will not post it (its not mine ).
First post updated...
If it works out, I can get Dem's tranny to the event if he can deliver it to me in San Carlos at work.
This brings up a good point that I should have thought to include in other clinics. I can easily rebuild a few gear boxes whilst teaching others. As such, if people can not make it they can still send their boxes and parts ahead and I will take care of it. I will gladly do this for Dem. I can fit a few more in if there is a need.
Plus, it gives the spectators something to do as I enlist them to work
Mike, I'm coming to change out my 5th gear with a flipped H, But I'll help out with Dem's Trans, will be there for both days. John
If I get multiples I will let you know. Thanks for offering. I will want to do this one as a show-and-go Then Dem has it rebuilt by the "all knowing master of all things transmission".....well, just me
Dem will be dropping off his trans with me in the next few days. I will bring it to the clinic and return it to Dem. Sam Adams will do an assist with lifting it into my truck.
Thanks Fernando - Mike is right on my way to work, so I think I'm ok. Gonna clean it up this weekend and drop it off next week.
Still sad I am going to miss the clinic. Transmissions are something I never felt up to tackling myself.
To all of those who will be attending this clinic, please send me a PM and I will reply with the location information, phone numbers and a mapquest link to my house!
As an overview,
I am located 30 minutes West of Highway 5 and Stockton on Highway 4!
From the West I am located 35 minutes East of Antioch near Brentwood. You take the Highway 4 to the Highway 4 Bypass and follow the signs to Discovery Bay/Stockton Left at Marsh Creek Rd, Turn Right at Highway 4 and keep Left twards Stockton!
Or if you are driving a Teener you might enjoy taking Marsh Creek Road East from Walnut Creek or Concord all the way!! Quite a twisty road around Mt. Diablo!!
If you are on 580 you would exit North on Vasco Road and turn Right on Marsh Creek Road until you hit Highway 4 and turn Right! Follow Highway 4 East (keep to the Left) a few miles to Discovery Bay! There is a slightly quicker way (about 4 minutes) but it is complicated and alot of people get lost!!
I drive to SF every Sunday and home every Monday so I know it takes about 1 3/4 hours or less with no traffic from down town SF to my front door!
Livermore is about 35 minutes
Walnut Creek is about 45-50 on Marsh Creek Rd
I am looking forward to making this a good experience for everyone involved! I am planning on Smoking some tri-tip so if anyone wants to bring side dishes and snack stuff that would be great!!
Jeff
What time does this event start? 9:14?
I will be bringing some Sam Adams and a side dish or two. Along with 3 trannies; Mine, Mine and Dem's
9:14 is close enough to the 9am time I have posted several times, I guess
Bump Reminder for those planning on attending! Even if you are just coming to watch please read below!!
This just in! I am heading to GPR after this event to work with Jonathan on all things transmission I think there will be a huge source of used parts in the near future. If I can pair him with Mark (Mikes914) for parts, I bet I can get the price of these things lowered for new!
I just shipped out the side shift bits to GoPack, and a parts package to Jeff. There is another parts package coming from the PNW, too
T-7 and counting
Great!
PM me the tracking numbers so I can be home when it arrives!
Tracking numbers? Its USPS so their tracking sucks. One is to arrive on Mon, that is all I know. The PNW one is to ship this weekend.
No problem!
I have received 7 requests for the location information and there are 12 people total rebuilding! Quite a few more who have said they are coming to watch so anyone who needs the info please send me a PM so we can get it done!!
I have been giving your address out to some folks, and a few law enforcement agencies
I've got Dem's tranny, 1st gear slider and beer I'm ready! Oh and props to GPR for getting my gasket kits to me fast and cheap!
Its looking like we will have a great turn out for this clinic!
We have at least 12 transmissions and around 17 people attending so far!
If anyone is still on the fence I just want to let you know that I will be providing Tri-tip & some Chicken for the attendees!
I have enough for about 25 people so dont be shy , go for a drive !! Dont do this all day thinking about what you missed!
Weather is looking great 74-79 degrees........unusualy nice for this time of year!!
I am looking for a core transmission to rebuild and stick into JimTab's car so if anyone has a spare, think of me.
Jeff, how many boxes have you received? I sent one and one was sent from WA.
Box I sent should arrive on Wednesday.
@Dr.Evil. I found your dignity and self-respect and put them in the box too. Thought I found your VIRGINITY, but turned out to be a dead skunk.....
Good Luck!
Guys, feed him OYSTERS and stand back to watch the show! 60+ seems to be the magic number.
I have only received one box so far!
AND I need a tail cone also!! I bought one from a local guy and after closer inspection it is cracked!!
I have two transmissions but I think they are both in "rebuildable condition" so unless one is shot then it wont be a core yet! We will see!
Oysters.... Do tell!!!
If it can happen the bar will be open when you arrive!!!
when I come up I will bring two extra tail shifters for possible parts if needed
Chris
Who you kidding, Jeff. The bar will be open anyway
OOOOOOOhh you havent seen my startup party bar stash!!!
Of course it will be open either way!!:beer2:
Great to hear there will be cores available!!! You Da Man!!
OK, some logistical clarifications need to be made and planned.
Last mention was that Mike was picking us up from OAK, is this still happening? He does know the flight info since he is the one that booked it. Are we staying at Mike's place Fri night and departing to Jeffs Sat morning for the clinic? I know I originally said I would rent a car, but plans have changed....and I forgot to update anyone (my bad).
Next is the transit over to Pacifica to JimTab's place. It is 77mi away. Anyone heading back that way Sun? Some options discussed - Jeff drops us off (long drive, round trip), Jim picks us up (long drive, round trip), Jeff drops us off at BART and we take that over to Colma for Jim to pick us up (long BART ride with all our stuff, best deal, wife will likely hate me).
Let me know your thoughts.
If you are bringing a transmission to the clinic please try to bring a table or small work bench along so you have your own space to lay out and clean your parts!
Wow all solved with one post!!!
Thanks for the help Mike!!
My house is empty!! My gal left town knowing this event was happening!!
Thanks, Mike
OK pulled one of my stacks today and inspected it! Everything looks bad, 1st gear dog teeth and 1st gear slider are toast. The 5th teeth look slightly worn but not bad!
It has what looks like 2 new syncros and 1 half worn, one that is buggered up from the 1 gear slider and dog teeth!
I am unable to slide back an forth into 2nd & 3rd so I am not sure whats up with that!
So it looks like I have a core to work with, I hope the other one is in better shape!!
Wish me luck
Attached thumbnail(s)
It looks like I may need to pull the '72 tailshifter for you.
Those pics are amazing! Well detailed. The 1st slider actually looks usable.
OK I pulled the 6 motor and trans this morning and pulled the stack!
This one looks much better than the last one! I think it will work for my needs!
Attached thumbnail(s)
We are ready for tomorrow here in Discovery Bay!!
Weather is looking good, meat is ready for the grill and the good (Evil) Dr. should be here by midnight!
Those that are coming please remember that I am only providing the meat and we still need side dishes!!
See you at 9:14am!!
I got 2 sides and 2 twelve packs
I just received a text from the Dr. saying he was passing through Vegas at 8:00!!
About to board in Vegas, need beer
About to board in Vegas, need beer
New Keg installed today....Sorry it's Coors Lt!!
I have a few Stella's though!
Silver bullet is fine when drinking for quantity vs quality
Just got delayed 45min
11pm arrival supposedly
Hurry up and wait!!
Just checking in. Bringing some potato salad and a few bottles of Blue Moon.
Pulled the tranny out of my '74 1.8L. First time, and it took a lot longer than I expected. Got the trans and my spare in the car ready to go. See everyone tomorrow. Can't wait.
Fernando T.
Don't forget a small folding table if you have one! It will make your space more comfortable!!
You might think about draining the fluid before you leave so you don't risk it leaking all over your transportation!!
Bringing side dish, a couple bottles of wine (not a big beer drinker), two transmission, tools, working cart, stool for resting, rags, gasket sets, more tools, two short 2x4 boards, and several boxes of free-to-good-home small, miscellaneous 914 parts from when I wasn't able to get to McMark's swap meet.
Landed
Day one was a success! I got my tranny done, sold my core.
Shot of the motley crew...
The Evil Genius adjusting forks...
This young lady brought her dad She did more work than anyone. She and her dad rebuilt a 901 and then she helped others get trannies back together.I was quite impressed by her drive and knowledge. We can only wish our doughter was that into reparing her own stuff.
Here is a shot of my other stack. A member arrived with a galled pinion. he bought my spare tranny which was in pretty good shape.
I really wish I could have gone.. Sadly i sold my spare trani's a couple years ago for a song... However my current one needs a rebuild.
The covated H gear...
More worker bees...
Awesome time had by all. I just got back home. When I left all were done but one tail dragger. The kind Dr. was operating on a diff. Stuffing a 914 diff into a 911/912 tranny.
Thank you so much Dr. Mike and the host Jeff. Jeff's house is awesome and his BBQ meat is even better.
A big thanks to Jeff for his hospitality and his garage. A HUGE thanks to the Dr. for his patience. A good time was had by all. It was great to learn about tranys while having the Dr. correct my errors before I put it back together.
Thanks to all, Chris
It was fun having everyone over this weekend! We ended up with about 25 people and at least 15 finished transmissions maybe more!! There were at least 20 cars that stopped thinking we were having a garage sale......... not even close to a garage sale !!
Thanks Agian to the good Dr for all of his knowledge and informational sarcasms ! We couldn't have done it with out you!!
Attached thumbnail(s)
Got it.
I do have to pull my tail cone off again. I just can't remember if I but the thrust bearing back in at the right spot. Last thing I want to do is pop it into reverse and trash my tranny.
Thanks again to Dr. Evil for a Time Sert to fix the speedo retainer threads.
had a good time at the clinic and got my tranny rebuilt all on a Saturday. Thanks doc for the help and thanks Jeff for hosting. Nice work both of you.
--Steve
Andy, I have another H gear if you want one
Nice garage Jeff! Dr E does it right, and every 914 owner should go to one of these. Sorry I couldn't stop by, but I'm looking forward to the next one.
A final update. I want to thank all of you who participated and made this a worth while event. This was by far the roughest one in regards to parts that I have done. I was spread too thin from working 13+hours a day, including the morning of the day I left, and then having a clinic a month before. Luckily, everyone was taken care of. Other than parts mixups that were solved, the clinic was a smashing success!
Jeff, thanks for hosting. Your place is almost as awesome as you are
Mike, thanks for the tickets and for the pickup from the airport and shuttle to Jeff's.
These events are pricey to do so participation and part sales really allow things to happen. I just picked the two cats and dog up from the kennel...$470. Parking fee....$74. Rental car for one day...$94 (I'll bitch about this in a different thread in the sandbox).
I was fortunate enough to have old friends that lived near GPR so that I could go down there and do some work for the GPR gang. Sorted out their inventory of cores, good used parts, and rebuilt a gear box for them to sell. The money I made doing that has offset the cost of the whole week significantly. And, it was great to help out a vendor that I believe in.
I look forward to the next time we can do this!
