I think this has probably been done before but I can’t find a picture. So here is my thought… I have flares to install, and my 74 was originally white (L 80E) it is currently black with polished Fuchs. I think the old 911 carrera look is cool. I also like the color combo of the creamcicle. So I was wondering what my car would look like if it had a GT front valence, GT flares, Fuchs rims and painted to look like a creamcicle??
Has anyone seen a picture of one, it seems like I have seen a picture of a “grasshopper” that way but can’t find it.
Here is a picture of a car ( not mine) if anyone is good at Photo shop

Yeah, that's what I was looking for, thanks.
Can any one change it to the orange with solid coloered Fuchs?
Does any one else think this is crazy because my wife sure does??
I know I will have to repaint the fenders once I get the flares installed but otherwise the paint is good, could be great if I buff it out.

Here is a very rough photoshop job I did real quick to give you an idea.

That looks cool... maybe it's just me.
I wonder if I could talk my wife into buying another non running 914 to make that so I can keep my blk and polished 914

I Personally don't care for the original creamsicle, but with GT flares and 5 lug fuch's I think it's pretty sweet.
Go for it.

Great idea!!!! I too have always liked the old 2.7 Carreras with that color scheme ........... however that same look on a 914 ........ is simply AWESOME!!!!

Looks really good. I wonder if it will change it much to delete the Targa Vinyl. I kinda like it on that one.

You need a 3.6 for it. Then it can be a Screamsicle.

I like it... (not the white top though)

Agreed. Really nice combo. White sail, black roof. I'm a sucker for white tire lettering too.
Anybody know what size wheels those are?

Wow, that's super hot. Glad to see my original photshopped image (silver one) is getting some mileage!
I was about to try a bumblebee edition of this image last night, but I think I'll try my hand at the creamsicle first. Looks incredible.

Yep. The original picture had 15's. I scaled them to 17's. Inspired by the different companies making 17 inch fuchs.

Was the car originally a creamsickle? If so, please do cut it up and make mine more valuable!

............ and green ............ sorry do not mean to spam the thread with tail draggers .......
I like the white sails best ............. how about doing the silver one with silver sails ?
Those fuchs do look cool!!! They do seem to be bigger than 15s or even 16s .....

I think a flared Subaru powered Creamcicle with a black top and sail panels would make a great project for Nolan's Creamcicle. I like the Fuchs two tone as well. We are still 8 years away from starting.

I think I like the white sail panel and the black roof the best. Thanks for photo shopping.
I showed it to my wife and she asked "did you hit the lottery or just your head"
She did think it looked cool but thought I should finish with my car and leave it black and get it on the road before I think about a new project. I did remember that I have had the car completely stripped to bare metal and repainted around 18 years ago. So maybe I should just finish it as is and look for another down the road. After all my wife did say I could start another project when I finish this one...at least that is how I took it and I figure I could get you guys to support me on that.
I am putting in a 2.7 so it won't be a screamcicle but it will move fast enough (for now).

I have wanted to do s similar look for my 76. Kind of a look to to what a 76 creamsicle might have looked like. But I can't figure how to make it look right with the black bumpers. My thought is to have a version where all of the orange is black. Can any of you PS guys show me what it might look like with a 5 lug conversion?

These combinations rock! Can't believe how neat they look, and I also like the 70s vintage feel to these.
Can't make up my mind if I like the 15 or 17" Fuchs look better. The 15" ones have a more old school feel.

Should have asked me Scotty, I have been considering the flared creamsicle all along to go with my Bee, even considered doing it Bee style to go with my original Bee. Now I am totally confused to what I want. I think at one time I even told you that you could do what ya wanted as long as it was tasteful.

It looks pretty interesting with the Big Rubber Bumpers. Here is a 1976 Creamsicle Tribute car that is well done. It is a real car not P-chopped.

I gotta say, I've never been a big fan of the Creamsicle or the 'elusive' Grasshopper paint schemes.. BUT.. those photoshops make them look incredible! I think its the combination of the flares, the 5 spoke fuchs with painted paddles only, and the color choices - the orange is a little more 'burnt' and the green looks a little darker.
Good luck making a decision now!

I wonder if it would make the shadows of the flare stand out more if one would add pearl to the white paint???
I know the guy who owns 10 of the local Mcdonalds and he is a "car guy". He has a 65 Mustang (well 3/4s of it) in one around here. I'm thinking I should show him the Ronald McDonald 914 and see if I could talk him into building it. Then talk him into paying me to drive it around to all the car shows to promote his business, yeah , yeah that will work...OK maybe not the last part.

Sure thing. Upload a picture of your car (or one like it) and the accent colors you want.

I found one of the pictures I was looking for. It is a Flared "Grasshopper" , well kind of they didn't color the rest of the panels but they did the side stripe and the Fuchs. Just thought you would like to see it.
I may have a chance to talk to the McDonalds owner Sunday; he is supposed to stop by my cousin's restaurant/bar to watch the game. Wish me luck amd we may have the McCicle on the road this summer

That's a ringer. I'm about to pull the trigger on this paint scheme. I'm gonna go whit sail panels and paint the targa and ground stripes orange.
I was in a quandary about paint, but this PS clinched it.

Related HJ: I envy you guys using Photoshop. Since I don't - - -
This is the best thing since beer and women. WILL someone that knows Johannes ask him to add the Positive Side Stripes?
Thanks!

WOW
!!!!! I think the blackened A-pillars and sails have won me over!!!! I was struggling for painted or black sails for quite a few months .......... when coupled with black pillars and trim .......... this pic wins hands down!!!! I did not think a metallic could pull it off this well!!
My next base color problem is between silver or 'yachting blue' from the new panamera.
Now that black sails and pillars have been decided on, it is now between this Blausilber epic example or a yachting blue base color with black bumpers and silver or black wheel paddles .............
Can you remove the porsche lettering stripe? Thanks for the great 'inspirational' p-shop so far

These different paint ideas all look great.
I wanted to give an update about the Ronald McDonald car idea. I did get a chance to talk with the McDonalds owner and he said he actually owned a 914 “back in the day”. I showed him the picture of the car and pitched him the idea of taking the car to car shows and handing out coupons etc, etc. He thought it would be fun and even said he had a Ronald McDonald manikin to put in the passenger seat.
However, He said that he just bought into a territory in Michigan and couldn’t lay out the cash to “do the car right” at this time.

Right, the side walls. I actually think they look pretty good.
Utah, I'd love to see that Creamsicle with the orange roof exactly the way it is but without the side stripes. Just all white except for the bumpers, front and rear valance, rockers and roof in orange.
Also, it looks liek that orange is starting to darken a little compared to the original Creamsicle. That's okay though, I think it gives the car an updated, not-so-70's (nothing wrong with the 70's BTW) look.
Gotta give you a thumbs up like the other fellas here, you're rockin' it out by putting together these packages for everyone.

Thanks, I have a lot of fun doing it. I love to see how it looks with all the different combos. I'm working on the blue one and the brown one next, but they are a little more challenging because they are darker colors. I'll put the de-striped creamsicle in the queue.

I don't like the white lettering on the tyres myself - It's like a £3000 evening dress being filled curvaceously by the most beautiful girl in your dreams and then she goes and spoils it all with a set of 7 inch gold hoop earrings - you just know before she opens her mouth it will be a disappointment.....
Sorry I'm English, but I'm sure you guys get what I'm getting at..
If the PS wizard wants to do my dream 914, it's as follows
Dark metallic grey
Chrome wheels with red ground and polished petals
The wide Porsche script in red
Black sills and valances
Chrome bumpers
No sail panel vinyl
Black roof
Full Alcantara interior with my 10K Mcintosh sound system (I know you can't shop that in, but I can visualise
)
Oh, and no gold hoop earrings...

Looking through all of the colors, I think the "frosted" quality of the clearcoat really makes the color rather than a straight, really glossly clearcoat.

The only 17"ers I've been able to find are the Linea Corse Fox wheels. Has anyone tried these on a flared 914?
Yes - they are Tight on Factory Metal Flares, fine on F/G

I find this thread to be most intriguing. Amusing to see others having similar thoughts to my own.

Actually I had posted a thread a few eeeks ago that was similar. I was looking for someone that could photoshop my SHeridan bodied v-8 to look like a bumblebee. I was giving that paint scheme some thought....
Anyone game to try photoshopping it for me?
If so I'll take a high res picture tomorrow :-)

Awesome thread!!
Thanks for all the great ideas on color schemes, Signal Orange does not have to be the only 914-6 GT Option.

I agree. Had to throw in my .02$ - even though it's non-sicle.
Here's a combo I did on the configurator - nice tool.

Absolutely awesome thread!
Tough choice. We'd say "Qual der Wahl" in German...literally, "the torture of choice", meaning...too many good things to choose from.
Inspiring!
