So this beauty arrived the other day and now I'm thinking it's just too nice to install. Might just mount it on the garage wall and stare at it a few years.. and wait for my bank account to recover.
Not tooting my own horn here as I didn't build it, Kevin Conway (ie kconway) is responsible for making something too nice to use.
Anyway, it's a 2056 with a lot of NOS pieces, should be fun!
that is amazing looking
good for you
!
very nice. I also added the van leaf screen to my engine.
That's 914 porn at it's best ...
ooo! so pretty! wish i'd had that screen on my 1.7 when a heater hose came loose and got sucked in...
if you don't mind sharing, basic cost breakdown?
We would all like to know.... Basically to the point
How much?
Beautiful engine and beautiful car. They just need to be put together now.
Thanks for the comments, gotta say I was pretty excited about it when I opened the crate.
I purchased it from the classifieds here, a bit south of $4k shipped. Came with brand new SS HE's and some other NOS items, like the FI computer and such. Quite a package really. Kevin had it rebuilt at European motor works I think, 96MM pistons was the only mod from stock. Everything was balanced during that rebuild too, looks like they did a nice job from what I can tell.
Got a set of Deep 6 Fuch's to go on the car as well. Lots a work ahead..
Bill,
I just remembered I didn't hook up the thermostat cable. Also found a few things I should have sent including the rebuild documentation. I'll drop them in the mail when I get a chance.
I kinda regret not running that motor! Enjoy it.
Kev
wow - looks amazing. i want a 2056 w/ fi. can't wait to hear how you like it.
Gem of an engine and special color metallic green 914.
Wonder how much HP will that produce approximately with the F?I??
OT and just as an aside, it kind of shocked me when I realized the early stock 1.7 vs the later, emissions laden 2.0 is only 8 hp more than the 1.7 and its put into a heavier car...
no real gain there i would say.
Congrats on the new engine it will look as good if not better once its in that green car!
With stock cam and EFI figure somewhere from 100-105HP
Better torque.
same setup with Raby 9550 cam somewhere in the 110-120Hp range.
Thanks for the heads up Kevin, I'll be sure to go through everything before the big swap.
No idea on exact horsepower, just more than my old 1.7 is all I care. 105 seems a good number though.
Does the Raby cam really make that much more power?
