914World.com _ 914World Garage _ Welding on the car

Alright fellow teeners. I am in Afghanistan for awhile, so I have plenty of time to practice my welding skills. I typically use MIG welding with shielding gas GMAW for all of you pros out there.
My questions stem from all the posts I see on the garage about welding on the car. What is the best way? Jackstands on a level surface? On wheels? What about a rotisserie? I was thinking about jackstands with the doors on. I am not doing any structural welding, just a floorpan or two.
For structural welding what is best? Build a jig platform?

Floor pans are fine. Just grab some jackstands and practice welding upside down.

jackstands with a couple of 4x4's running the length of the car will keep it in it's relaxed state. Jackstands alone will leave the center with no support, and if enough metal is removed can cause the center to sag
