914World.com _ 914World Garage _ 1972 deposit box (cubby)

Posted by: Kansas 914 Mar 26 2011, 06:49 AM

I'm looking for a deposit box for my '72 restoration. Does anyone reproduce these? I checked with James's website at Appearance and Performance first but didn't see it there.

Thanks in advance!

Because they are not a real popular item, there are plenty of both good used and new instantly available from the usual guys who advertise here.
Upstairs in our NOS area, I bet we have at least 50 brand new ones in assorted colors.

So that's what that is. I have one that came with my '73. I thought it was a chopped up gage console and was going to give it to Barber Dave. lol-2.gif Thx for saving me from the embarrassment.

James,

I hope your health improves. I placed another order with you last week.

Best wishes for a full recovery!

your order should be fine just no more hand made parts for a while.

Doing a search on "cubby" and found this thread. Last week at the G & R swapmeet I saw two of these. Bought the cheaper of the two to see how it would work and really like it. The drivers side curves toward the center so your foot has plenty of room. The one I bought is pretty rough and the wrong color.

Would like to find one in tan/camel.

Have one in gray loop in stock $68, add moounting hardware for $5. Not on the website as James has made only one for me.

Yes, I'll have to check with James, but if you can wait a few weeks it's doable.

Can someone post a picture of one?

Nevermind. Couldn't see the picture on my phone. I see it now.

I discarded my center console several years ago. I really like this cubby, the driver side is angled inward and provides plenty of room to move the right foot from the accelerator to the brake and back without hanging up. Plus it doesn't take much room. The cubby I picked up at the G & R was well worn, but I want to get a nice one to match the tan interior..... smile.gif

And, they are easily removable. This make getting to the wiring easier than the center console
