"If I take my type 2 engine and put it in my type 4, then take my type 4 engine and put that into my type 3 so I can take my type 3 engine and put it into my type 1 so I can get my type 1 running again, would that work?"

Dan you need to stop painting cars in your garage with the doors closed...... blink.gif

No. The type 3 fan shroud will not fit in a type 1 unless you make it a Baja aktion035.gif aktion035.gif sawzall-smiley.gif sawzall-smiley.gif sawzall-smiley.gif

There isn't enough room for a sliding section like that. It has to be a removable section. Even a 928 roof section is too long. I looked into it.

Doing a 944 section w/o a sunroof would be stupid because it would be easier to build a complete non-sunroof section from scratch.

That thread were I put the 944 section on was because I wanted a removable sunroof to help retain the open-air feeling of the 914, but have the ridgedness of the steel top.

AA has done a couple of true 916 steel tops for customers. They are better write ups than mine.
