914World.com _ 914World Garage _ Coil problem? sprung a leak!?

Anyone ever had a coil leak?

for the past 2 months car has run flawlessly, except for the clutch cable adjustment that had to be made last week, but 2 days ago, suddenly car started to miss, run really rough on the way home from work- was running fine in a.m. and leaving work, so i stop in parking lot at the hardware store.
seemed to be electrical, nothing obvious, but that night i figure either points or coil??
had a 69 austin healy that would act the same way, had a bad coil, - i pull the coil and it is sloshing- half empty of the insulating oil, apparently cracked and had been leaking out!! this coil was only 1 year old but NOT a bosch.

Anyone ever heard of a coil doing that?
put in a bosch coil- seems to run fine now!

wierd!

In the old days it was not that uncommon. Haven't seen one leak in years. Maybe your car is telling you to keep bosch electrical parts in your ignition?
