Ok so I happen to be under the 914 ( go figure) and notice that the thermostat wire is hanging down. My question is are the baffles open or closed at this time when the engine is cold and the wire disconnected ? In reattaching the wire do I rotate the bar and hook up the wire or leave the bar/rod in its current position and attach the wire?

thanks
Elliott

Rotate the lever on the bar (against the spring tension) then attatch the cable. As the motor warms up the thermostat lengthens and allows full flow. No wire attatched = full flow.
