Hello everybody,
does annyone knows how to disassamble the ignition switch of an 911 or 914/6?
I have this:
I want to separate the cylinder.
On the top you can see a little hole, anny ideas for what it is?
Thank you
hiho michelko,
nice to see someone else from germany ...
i've also tried to disassemble the ignition switch, but i found no way to open it without destroying the case. if you only like to match your keys it's easier to change the door locks.
many greetings from germany / berlin
benno
Hi Benno,
bin mir ziemlich sicher das das DIngens irgendwie auseinandergeht.
Bei den verschiedenen 4 Zylinderversionen geht es auch.
Man muss nur den Trick kennen!!

Not realy at top:
i marked the hole, its about 1 mm in diameter.

Hi guys,
nobody knows??? Any Ideas??
The fitting key looks like the right one instead of the left (nevertheless i think it is original). Did anybody know if the older keys look like this.
Hope you understand my english i am little out of practice.
oops forgot the picture

I have one that is apart, but I did not take it apart. The pin that you pointed to has been drilled out and replaced by a threaded setscrew.
The small key is the style used on '68 and older 911s (and 356s) IIRC.
i'm not really of any help here, but on the early /4 locks, you have a similar hole and you use a pin through the hole to push down on a spring and then the cylinder will just fall out.
maybe the /6 (911) lock is similar.
did you try to press down through the hole with a pin and try to pull out the cylinder at the same time?
Andy
Hi there,
thank you for your thoughts. I think the drilling out method is the right one.
Sir andys idea did not work, the pin moved only half an mm in.
So then i will use drill (looks like)
