It was a pretty decent show. I went down there for swap meet. Met a few club members. Had a good time and got alot of sun. Made more conversation then money.

WOW!!!! That Effingham Show sure looks like a nice event. Some really fine looking 914's too. Check out the picture of the orange, big bumper 914 with the Boxster beside it. The look and style of that 914 blows the Boxster away.

Posted by: seanery Jun 6 2004, 10:24 AM

Brian,
did you notice that the keys to the 959 and the carrera gt were sitting in the cars?

Damn, I wanted to start 'em up and go biggrin.gif

Posted by: grayson Jun 6 2004, 12:37 PM

I dont know if its my rabid enthusiasm for 914's but the GT and the 914 have a very similar profile from the side.

Posted by: STL914 Jun 6 2004, 02:45 PM

Great pics Brian. Did you happen to see the 76 Signal Orange car? My wife and I spoke to the owner. He is the second owner, bought the car when it was 6 months old from original owner. Beautiful example of a 914.

Did any club members take part in the Road Tour? Can't imagine what a couple of hundred Porsches would look like in a continuous line driving along the back roads of Effingham.

This would make a great club event next year. What do you think?

biggrin.gif That first photo looks like its Aubergine (eggplant) color. Very nice, nicest one I've seen yet.

Posted by: 736conver Jun 6 2004, 02:54 PM

Thats one thing I missed is talking to all the owners. I was at the swap meet untill about 2. When I went to look at cars everyone was off doing their own thing. Also took some pics of some 911's that looked nice.

Shhhh! Don't say that, remember, to Porsche the 914 never existed! Seriously, I was about to say the same thing. There is something about the new Porsches that I just don't like. They look like they could go on a diet.

Posted by: indydad Jun 7 2004, 10:54 AM

The teener pictures I took were the ones you posted, nothing new. Wish I could have stayed longer, had to get to my grand daughter's dance rectial at 2:00. Myabe next year we could organise the club to meet there. Name tags with screen names would help.

I wonder if Tweeks would allow the club to park together in a designated area?? We could set up a couple of awnings for shade, hang out in our club hats[new ones next year?], swap stories. clap56.gif

Indydad no pictures of the swap meet???

Posted by: indydad Jun 7 2004, 12:28 PM

Sorry, no pics of the swap meet area.......didn't think to. I felt real guilty buying a fiberglass rear bumber that I REALLY didn't need to get mine running ( I caught h... from the wife trying to convince her I had to have the thing!) nag, nag, nag

P.S. Do you think next year they will put the swap meet area further out in that corn field to the east? Sheeeeesh

I bet they would.

Nice pics guys!

You Midwest owners sure know how to show your 914's - They look great!

Enjoy!

Posted by: flatout Jun 7 2004, 01:34 PM

Seanery, they had all of us put the cars in neutral with the e-brake on and leave the keys in the passenger seat so they could move them if they needed to(or take them out for a midnight run!).I didn't worry though, because i'm sure they would have taken all the others out before mine!

Posted by: seanery Jun 7 2004, 01:58 PM

which car was your shelby?

Posted by: flatout Jun 7 2004, 02:44 PM

It was the green 1975 slant nose not owned by Bob Ingram.!

Posted by: seanery Jun 7 2004, 03:26 PM

Posted by: eresener Jun 8 2004, 05:46 PM

we should all get together next year at Mid America...and all park/party together...it would be very very cool...

Did anyone here buy the two sideshift transmissions?
I went back to get the $75 one and they were both gone.

Posted by: eresener Jun 9 2004, 08:20 AM

Sean,
I watched Brad Mayeur go through that stuff like a madman...I believe he purchased all the tranny's and a whole bunch of stuff from Mike? from Chattanoga.

Did you see the 3.0 motor in the back of the Suburban?...he wanted 2K for the motor...at the end of the day Mike's wife offered everything "still on the ground" for $10.00...motor excluded....motor went back to TN....still for sale.

Posted by: seanery Jun 9 2004, 08:22 AM

When Doug & I left I offered her a grand for the motor.

Posted by: 736conver Jun 9 2004, 12:37 PM

I swear Brad bought half of that guys stuff. He kept on walking by with more stuff each time. Did he sell the clear targa top he was asking $1500 for.

Posted by: eresener Jun 9 2004, 05:09 PM

I didn't see it at the end of the day...I don't think it sold....

Thanks - your muffler fit well too!

I also talked to Brad Mayeur at the show and we discussed the inner long kits - he was impressed and plans on buying them as he needs them - I will probably work out a trade to get my tranny sycros repaired.

brad was the one that bought the tranmissions as well.

But you fogot to post a pic of the 17th 914 that was there!!!!

Anyone know?
