I replaced my front calipers and my master cylinder, both with re-built parts, after rebuilding my front suspension. I have bled at least a quart of fluid through the system and cannot get the pedal to firm up more than a couple of inches off the floor. Shaft clearance into the cylinder looks good. I can't see any leaks. I'm stumped. Any clues other then a bad master cylinder?

Did you bleed the master cylinder?

Oh, welcome to the club. Got a pic of your car? is it an original six or a conversion?

bleed the prop. valve? that little bastard is the source of a lot of frustration...

Bleed the proportioning valve or...there's a two man procedure that involves "heavy" pedal pressure. You really have to slam it to get the prop. valve free of air.

Does it get better by pumping the brakes?

Have you set your emergency brake clearances yet?
