914World.com _ 914World Garage _ 94mm vs 96mm

The engine I'm taking apart has 94mm euro pistons in it. Would there be any difference using 96mm flat tops? I mean would there be any seat of the pants feeling?

Displacement versus compression. Good question. If you have 96 flat tops, you can build compression in the head and have the best of both worlds. smile.gif

Yep, about a 10% power change , especially if the cam is not stock..

Soo lets see, if a stock 2.0l dynos at 80 rear wheel hp then you would get 88 rear wheel hp. Damn thats pretty good.
The best my 2.1 djet motor dyno'd was 95hp at the rear wheels.

Jake,
the cam is a webcam 494, with dual idf 40s.

VERY Nice cam... Not great for HP off the shelf but wow is it torquey and smooth.

Run that sucker at 9:1 with those 96s and its good for 115HP, with stock valved heads..

I know the PO replaced the cam, is there a way to know what cam I have without splitting the case?

Remove the oil pump and see whats stamped on the cam drive flange..
