Sweet!

Does he coat them at all? How is the upkeep (yea, I know you just got them so you don't know first hand)?

Saw something on one of the SpikeTV shows that kind of sealed them for a year so you didn't have to constantly polish them. Wondering if he treats them with something like that.

He'll clear powder coat 'em if you want, but these are just polished. I'll probably just keep 'em clean. Mother's is good stuff.

Zoop Seal. Google. I might try that too.

Hey Eastwood sells it too. Relatively cheap (I know you'll like that).

Posted by: ppickerell Jun 23 2004, 07:48 PM

OK, I'm sold. Mine should be easy as they have no curb rash. How much for a set of four?

Al told me to say $75 a wheel. That's all I'm sayin. Give him a call. He and Diane are great folks.

My total was $435 with shipping. That included the hand painted center caps. Other than that, and the fact they are 16s, they look just like Mike's. Your mileage may vary. Oh, see my avatar for one of mine.

Did Porsche actually ever sell them in this highly polished state? Just wondering. Anyways, they look great.

Dude... niiiiiiice!

My pants suddenly feel tighter! Schwing!

Posted by: Mueller Jun 23 2004, 09:23 PM

nice !!!

hey, it looks like he even put the center caps on in the correct orientation smilie_pokal.gif

To my knowledge the 5 spoke fuchs never came from the factory with the polished chrome look.

By the way, Wheel Enhancement charges $200 per wheel to the reanodize the 4 lug 2 Liter Fuchs wheels.

Posted by: seanery Jun 23 2004, 09:57 PM

The Al Reed price for anodizing is about $125 per wheel. (I think)

S'ok, I wanted them polished. That's the way I like 'em.

Figured as much. That's why I went to Al. wink.gif Besides, the last time I called Wheel Enhancements, I got put on perma-hold and forgotten. Come ot think of it, I did mention 914 before being put on hold. idea.gif

They don't look as nice as the 30 hour, labor of love, 4 lug Fuch I polished myself, but I swore I'd never do that again. And that was a full polish, which to my mind in some respects is easier than dealing with a paint & polish finish. Pic attached below.

After that experience and level of work, having this work done by someone else? Priceless. And they do look pretty damn nice. No complaints whatsoever.

Gint,

Wheels look great. Al did mine as well and I've only used soap and water the past year and a half to keep them looking just the way they were when installed. Mine are the identical finish as yours and I'm surprised the polished metal has not tarnished.

Your 2L Fuchs bring back memories. I too put 30-40 hours in each wheel only to let a pro finish them off. He advised against using a clear coat. Don't remember all the details but took his advice.

OMFG! those are to nice sets of fuchs! very sweet dude!

Posted by: Demick Jun 24 2004, 08:52 AM

I use regular carnuba car wax on my polished wheels to protect them. It works very well. Every 2 years or so I re-polish them and re-wax them. Takes about 30 minutes total.

This is nice, I have 12 wheels at Al's now. He called last week and told me that the 4 lug mahles had to be done over. He did not like the finish that he had gotton from the clear coat they had applied. Something about the end of the batch of powder. Should have them next week and put the 4 lug gas burners on Linda's car. I'm also doing a set of 4 lug Fooxx and for clocks I'm doing 3 4 lug mahles and Thomas is doing a 14" 5 lug fooxx. We'll show them off when we get them in our hands.
Check out the priecing.

It's posted along with the address in one the earlier posts in this thread Kevin.

Joe/Aa When you get to Al's, ask him where my set of wheels are. I just called and left voice mail.
