914World.com _ 914World Garage _ new parts

Posted by: morphenspectra Jun 23 2004, 11:08 PM

this is a peek at some of the interior parts we are working on.one is a pillar mount two gauge.the other is a dash plate with holes for three 2 1/16 vdo's.these two pieces are bieng made for the appearance & performance race car but may make into regular production when we realese the rest of the interior parts.
the hardest thing to find was a vinyl that met out requirements.but cost will be low and quality will be high.they will be fiber glass metal frame with a "secret" cool.gif core and seamless vinyl cover.we are working the bugs out of production.

I would be interested in the pillar guage pod.

I was thinking of making one myself, so..

How soon are we talking for production?

Andrew

Posted by: morphenspectra Jun 24 2004, 12:11 AM

in about 45 days we will start releasing interior parts.all the prototypes will be complete in about two weeks. wink.gif i got ahold of my friend in vancouver finally about the v6 conversion parts ill shoot you a e mail with his info but he is going on vacation on the 25th for three weeks.(andrew)

Posted by: Andyrew Jun 24 2004, 12:18 AM

Thanks, and Thanks.

I'll be interested in what he wants. BUT right now, I have two guys from here that are going to "hook me up" with v8 conversion stuff.

Depending on the price, I might be ready for one in 45 days. Yet, I might be toying with some fiberglass in 45 days also... (thinking of doing that guage pod, and building a dash with a guage on either side of the guage cluster, a guy from the WCC had a custom dash like this (anyone have any pics of that cool dash?))

Sweet parts, smilie_pokal.gif
I think there are a lot of us on this board using creativity to make these little cars unique.
Nothing like having one-off parts to set ya aprt from the crowd. beerchug.gif beerchug.gif beerchug.gif
Those post gauge pods ROCK. aktion035.gif aktion035.gif aktion035.gif aktion035.gif

Nice. Those look great!

very cool!! keep us opsted on when they go on sale!!

Posted by: maf914 Jun 24 2004, 08:50 AM

I like the pillar gauge mount. You guys are doing good work.

Would a three gauge mount work or is this crowding it too much? I'd like to mount CHT, oil temp and oil pressure gauges. I guess you could combine the pillar mount and the three 2-1/16" gauge main panel and add fuel tank and another CHT or clock.

Posted by: StratPlayer Jun 24 2004, 09:18 AM

I think the gauge pods are a great idea

we also have a three gauge "cast "as well but for my car i only needed two.temps go in the pillar(cht, oil)dash is getting fuel, oil pressure, voltmeter.the appearance console i think looks great but under hard driving its alittle far for me to be straying youre eyes from the road or track.when we start racing we will push the car to its limits! and maybe beyond.but im not about ready to fry an expensive motor ohmy.gif.you need to know whats going on back there.ultimately the track will teach us about street performance products.what works and what dont.what you need and what just looks kool.we are learning

I too would be interested in the pod setup. Please keep us informed as to when they're available!

Nice looking work by the way... biggrin.gif

Posted by: iamchappy Jun 24 2004, 10:17 AM

I had to pull out the heat gun and do some carving on mine to make it work, I will be interested in one.

Was wondering if your going to produce just the single gauge pod set up?

Posted by: PorscheTom Jul 16 2004, 02:35 PM

Bump! icon_bump.gif

Any progress on the gauge pods? E.T.A?

Inquiring minds want to know!

Posted by: opera guy Jul 16 2004, 03:16 PM

ya, i'd be interested too

Posted by: morphenspectra Jul 16 2004, 07:36 PM

two person company here at appearance and performance.computers, paper work and shipping-hiedi.
everything else-james
so im a pretty busy guy.
the molds are bieng built
and if i keep getting orders for new parts in like i am now mueba.gif it might be a couple weeks.on the one hand im very happy that so many people like our prouducts.on the other hand R&D gets slowed down alot.and i have alot of good things i want and need to build.ill sneek out a photo of the 911 style air cleaner that is made to fit dual webers or dells on the 4 cly.(it sounds really kool too !)most of my products i try real hard to make them look like there suppose to be there.and not out of place like some aftermarkets items ive seen .but on the pillar gauges, youre looking at at least 3 weeks b4 i have them out for sale.

Posted by: Aaron Cox Jul 16 2004, 07:58 PM

are you talking about watershields for 4 cyl cars???

Posted by: morphenspectra Jul 16 2004, 08:40 PM

no im talking about the air cleaner that is used on early 911s it will even take the same filter element

its not quite done yet but it is very similar to the photo. i was gonna put raised letters that said porsche across the top,but i have been warned not to use the name on any of my parts.

Posted by: seanery Jul 16 2004, 09:14 PM

watershields for a type IV would be tres cool!

Posted by: morphenspectra Jul 16 2004, 10:47 PM

the rain tray ? that goes on the engine cover?

Posted by: lapuwali Jul 16 2004, 10:56 PM

An airbox for a pair of IDFs would be an excellent thing. I'd love to reduce the induction noise caused by the K&N filters. One question is: how are you going to avoid interference with the linkage? The best linkage, by far, is the CB Performance setup, which has those big mounting ears in the way of such an airbox.

The watershields others are referring to were used on the 914-6. It's a "hat" that fits above the top filter plate on each K&N style IDF filters, and prevents the filters from getting water soaked from rain coming in through the engine cover (no rain tray on the 6).

Personally, I think the airbox would be a nicer thing to have.

Posted by: seanery Jul 16 2004, 10:56 PM

no, watershields. Look at a 914-6 conversion. They don't make 'em for the type IVs though.

Posted by: morphenspectra Jul 16 2004, 11:37 PM

ahhhh i know what they are ive seen them b4 wink.gif

Posted by: BGman Jul 31 2004, 06:19 PM

Latest ETA on when the pillar pods will be ready?

Posted by: Aaron Cox Jul 31 2004, 07:32 PM

watershields have to be easy to make..

id be in for a set wink.gif

Posted by: morphenspectra Aug 2 2004, 05:41 PM

Pillar pods will be done around mid month. Working the kinks out of the prototype. Dash gauge holder($45) is done!!!!, will be posting pics this evening, and be posting on e-bay this evening as well.

Posted by: morphenspectra Aug 2 2004, 09:58 PM

Here is pic number 1, I will post more pics in the next day or so with gauges installed. $45

The small holes take a 2 1/16" gauge and the other two fit the factory gauges

Posted by: morphenspectra Aug 3 2004, 10:07 AM

Here it is with gauges installed.

dude...

say it with me... "water shields" wink.gif , would allow you to run an open engine (no rain tray) and keep your carbs dry.

please!

ill be a beta tester!

and BTW, gauge pods look SWEET! smile.gif

Posted by: Mark Henry Aug 3 2004, 01:35 PM

I doubt if fiberglass shields would catch fire, but I have seen a nice pop of fire come out of an out of tune carb (engine) before.
unsure.gif

Posted by: Aaron Cox Aug 3 2004, 01:56 PM

dude...with watershields, you could run like 6" filters and still be covered from rain idea.gif

puhlease! biggrin.gif

Posted by: Jeroen Aug 3 2004, 02:40 PM

Morph,

Did you ever consider doing your parts in carbon
I think there'd be a market for that...

cheers,

Jeroen
