914World.com _ 914World Garage _ Question on shock combinations

Posted by: MikeSpraggi Jul 24 2011, 02:58 PM

I have a friend who is putting together a 914 for mostly track duty but wants it to be able to be driven on the street as well. The car is a narrow bodied '72 914, 2.4L four banger. Front suspension very well may be Bilstein F4 P36-112-HO Yellows with F4 B46-017-9HO Yellows in the rear. It looks like the front inserts are for an early 911 ('72-'79 or so). Will this be a good or decent combination for what he wants to do?

I have green Bilstein's in the front and Yellow in the rear with 200lb springs. It is stiff on the street but I love it. My car was built for the track, but I drive it on the street.

One can have them revalved at Bilstein for 65 bucks ea (last number I heard).
They have standard valving for car weights, spring rates, and car use.....or you can give them the specs you want.
