914World.com _ 914World Garage _ speedo probs...

Posted by: scottb Apr 22 2003, 06:15 PM

i know i asked this before but only now do i have the beast on jack stands.

my speedo will work fine up to about 30-40 mph then start flying around from 40-120mph.

how does one diagnose the source of the problem? speedo cable or angle drive?

or should i just throw $ at it until the problem stops or a new more expensive problem shows up?

thanks...

Try another speedo to see if that works first.
If it does the same thing its probably the cable that has a kink in it.
The angle drive doesn't go bad unless you jack on it. They just leak oil.

Geoff's right. Bouncing is usually a bind the cable. Loading/Unloading causes the bounce.
