914World.com _ 914World Garage _ I can't see me figgin links!!!!!

Posted by: Gint Jan 13 2003, 08:43 PM

When I imbed a link in a "ADD REPLY" to a thread, the link is underlined, but otherwise doesn't show up fer crap. Can you make 'em blink or jump up and down or something?

Lemme try to clarify. When replying to a thread (or creating a new thread for that matter), if I imbed a link using the http:// button, the text of the link shows up in the thread underlined. For example, http://www.914world.com/.

If there is a lot of text in the post, the link doesn't really stand out as a link. The underlining can be quite subtle. I suppose fonts and such might affect this, but from my experience anyway, it's not always easy to see. If you could bold the links or change the color or something it would be an improvement IMHO.

Not the highest priority, but it would be nice.

You could try something like this. http://www.914world.com

That might work.

That's a fine point Paul. Changing the default behaviour would be ideal though.

Jeroen, BTW, I was referring to a conversation I had with Brad last week. The revamp of the all914.com site. When you connect to the site, it forces the browser window to use the full screen. Kinda like a porno pop-up site. The project page(s) links for Julius (the signal orange 2.0/4 car he built a year and a half or two or so ago) isn't on the page anymore either. He had said that it would be up later next (this) week. Something to that effect anyway.

Hey Ginter,

Hmmm... didn't notice the self-expanding screen feature (my browser always starts full-page)
I'll have a look at it

I believe there are only two more projects galleries to do and Julius is one of them
Darn, I should quit my day job, so I can have more time for this stuff...

Cheers,

Jeroen

Not the world's biggest priority J. Don't knock yourself out over it.

Ok, the hyperlinks are black, bold and underlined (sounds like a soap opera)
On mouse over, it'll turn yella...

cheers,

Jeroen

I personally don't like everything being underlined. This particular Bulletin Board system in particular lets you click on almost anything -- so almost everything is underlined. I'd prefer a standard color, or even just a typographic style such as bold or oblique being used to indicate links. Changing color on hover or underlining on hover is good feedback.

I suppose we could have alternate skins for this sort of thing eh?

Hey Tim,

believe me, if I'd take out the underlines from the hyperlinks, you wouldn't know what and what not to click

using a different color for the hyperlinks (i.e. red) would be like adding soap to sore eyes
