For more than three years now, the locals in Sacramento and other hardcore teener guys from out of town as far away as Oregon have gotten together once a month to munch on a donut and chat about our beloved 914's. Last week I was handed the keys to our new home in Reno and by month's end, Nicho will be starting school...

Let's get together for one last time! August 27th, 9am to noonish. Family Donuts and Deli - 9045 Fair Oaks Blvd at the corner of San Juan Avenue and Fair Oaks Blvd.

I'll try to make it too!

Hey, how about creating a bi-annual Sacramento to Reno run up 50 through
south shore and down into Reno...that would be a good two-day thing over a
weekend...
If I were out there, I would enjoy it.

Posted by: ConeDodger Aug 10 2011, 11:59 AM

I will probably have a Reno Porsche Family Reunion but as far as I know, it would only be me Z, and Rand... I am thinking of organizing an annual Targa Tahoe Event that will be a drink in the parking lot thing on Saturday, and drive through the Sierras on Sunday. That would be through the Sierra-Nevada Region PCA though.

Thanks for coming guys. I hope someone picks up the banner and keeps it going... I would come over when I could.

Funny, going to Reno my Tahoe took 3/4 tank of gas climbing that 7200ft and descending 2700 into Reno. On the way back, it is of course a 2700ft climb into Donner Pass followed by a 4500ft descent. My gas gauge barely budged off of full!

...back when, I blew a fiber timing gear somewhere west of Truckee on 80.
Four friends and I coasted in my car all the way down to just East of Roseville.
One of the climbs was almost the same height as the previous descent, that we
had to all get out and run beside the car, pushing it about 50 yards over the
crest, and then hoping in and coasting the rest of the way without stopping.

I'll try to make it aswell, its my brothers birthday, but I'm sure I can stop by for a few on my way out.

I think a annual tahoe run would be great... that area is so nice and its fun to drive a 914 through...

Posted by: biosurfer1 Aug 12 2011, 10:18 AM

I'll be there...got a full day the 27th but most of it is in the afternoon.

Posted by: Cambo Aug 12 2011, 03:06 PM

I have to work. Guess i'm going to miss the last one. Thanks for hosting Rob. It was fun.

You guys try not to throw up road shittage on John's car. I suspect that thing could be COTM material one day if it doesn't keep getting abused... biggrin.gif

Posted by: jsconst Aug 15 2011, 08:58 AM

Had a thought, I know it's short notice, but why not make this reunion even more special and send Rob off to his new job and home in style. I'm willing to open my house for a BBQ if anyones interested, I'll even donate everything for hamburgers.
We live in the country,(near Wilton, just so. of sacramento) have plenty of room, even a pool and spa for the kids (or adults).

I am going to try to go where ever we have this. Very nice of Jeff to offer up his house BTW.

I am going to be driving my Prius.....no laughing please. Anyone want a ride from the San Ramon/Danville/Alamo area?

Michael

I think a BBQ is a great idea but do I have to give up the doughnuts? confused24.gif

Jim

Posted by: biosurfer1 Aug 15 2011, 10:41 PM

Maybe start off at the donut shop then caravan to Jeff's house??

Don't know if there are many good driving roads between the two but who knows

No great driving roads that I know of but I'm likely to be driving my truck so a good chunk of freeway works for me. Not that I'll find any good freeway in Sac.

Jim

Posted by: kg6dxn Aug 15 2011, 11:09 PM

I'm down with that.

Rob, are you really moving?

Posted by: ConeDodger Aug 15 2011, 11:12 PM

That's a great idea Jeff! I think we could start out at the donut shop and take the backroads - Sunrise out there to make it interesting...

Mind if I bring the Z Car Guys?

Just ride with me Jim... It's your engine anyway! driving.gif

Well I guess its jsharp.gif time. I'll supply everything for burgers. If everyone wants to bring something to go with that (or something else to throw on if you don't like burgers) and what you like to drink. There will be some beer, soda, water here. beerchug.gif

Just need a head count to have enough food. I'm working out of town this week, so my posting will be limited until the weekend, iphone can only do so much.

Oh, and there are no "good" roads between there and here just long straight country roads.

And Rob Its your party bring anyone you want. cheer.gif

Jeff

I'll be bringing my wife. I'll bring some food too.

Love the Reno Rob. Any town with a pawn shop on one side of the street and a casino on the other is a good town. You and Rico will have a good time, and its not really that far from the Bay Area.

The Chevy dealer in town is a good guy too.

I have been working over here for two months. Weird staying in this big new house with like 3000sf and only a queen size bed and two camping chairs. One morning I had a wild horse nibbling on the lawn! There were 4 or 5 more on the other peoples lawns. Neighbor said it is rare for them to come into the street area but not at all uncommon to see them.

Glad the Chevy dealer is a good guy. I just got a Tahoe.

Posted by: ConeDodger Aug 16 2011, 10:14 AM

This was a first for the Sacramento Porsche Family Reunion... Last month's event saw a car towed off for the first time. Turned out to be a bad coil and it was running five minutes after he got it home and on the ground.

None of that this month please biggrin.gif

Bring your suits, our pool is 18' X 30" one level with a volley ball net in the middle, games have been known to break out with only a moments notice. We also have horseshoe pits, and shade for those who just want to relax. If there are any young kids 6-7 or younger we have the availability of a small bounce house. So we need to know who's coming, let Rob or myself know so we can have enough food, and also if there are any young ones. Hope to see you there, or here. beerchug.gif

It looks like the oil plug bung tore half off. Should be easy fix. I think I think I shut it down in time. When I installed the engine, I connected to low oil switch to an idiot light.

I towed the car on my trailer up there. Had a donut and went to the BBQ. Fun Time! Thanks to all and safe travels Conedogger.

Enjoyed having everyone here saturday, sorry some of you couldn't make it, have to Plan further ahead next time.

Hope your car is back on the road soon mike, maybe next time you come out you'll be able to actually drive it all the way, maybe take a different route till they fix the freeway, or slow down, nah just pick another route.

Again great seeing everyone, have to do it again.
