Need some new shocks for the Explorer, but thinking I will just putting in aftermarket shocks instead of the factory air adjustable (ride level) shocks which are very very pricey. I can just disconnect the air system and be on my way.
What would be great is figuring out which shock to use. Anyone have experience with Koni or Bilsteins on a truck or heaver vehicle?
Thanks
I've always had good luck with Bilstein HD on pickup trucks. Not terribly expensive so probably a good bet.
I had Bilsteins on my 91 Explorer, worked well.
Stopped the rear end tramping that was common on early Explorers.
If you swap out the stock Air shocks with standard won't you lose ride height?
IMO, Bilsteins are the best shocks money can buy for "normal" service. Your rig will wear out before they do.
