914World.com _ 914World Garage _ john walkers swapmeet, seattle 7/31

Posted by: rhodyguy Jul 14 2004, 08:34 AM

it's listed in the calendar. unless the format has changed it's FREE to sell. i did pretty well with regards to sales last year and bought some great stuff at super prices. quite a few members showed up as well. load up those extra items, bring some dough, and have some fun. check the calendar for details. this swap is way better than emory's icon8.gif , and as good as the one at sunset. i don't think craig will do as well the one in callifornia. if there is any interest we could hook at my place after the festivities.

that's from last year. I think this whole "swap meet thing" is a government conspiracy. It never happened. unsure.gif

Posted by: Bleyseng Aug 1 2004, 07:58 AM

Nah, same location Sean! Not as many guys selling parts this year for some reason. (there was a SCCA AX going on).
John Walker was buying all the 901 trannys he come lay his hands on. For the gear sets I heard.

I bought one thing and sold one thing and I was in the black.

Lots of 914 guys showed up including a few new ones.

Roger never showed up as he had to walk the dog again......

Geoff

Posted by: rhodyguy Aug 1 2004, 08:43 AM

too tall for dave hunt. i think it was a member from bellingham. he bought the 8-spokes that came on the 75' smilie_pokal.gif , at least i didn't have to put those and the trannys back in the truck. i made my gas money back and came home with a few bucks in my pocket wink.gif .

kevin

Posted by: morphenspectra Aug 1 2004, 09:29 AM

We did pretty well, bought a parts car, it was too good of a deal to pass up, and had to dump the chalon body to get it, now we have to drive all the way up to seattle again to pick it up. What a weekend.

Hiedi

Great to hear you guys had a good time. smile.gif

The weather was perfect. Geoff, I was up early getting my ECU turned around per your suggestion, and one of my elderly neighbors walked over to talk to me about his wife who passed away 5 days ago (she died peacefully). I like them a lot, and it was pretty emotional, and we talked for a long time, and I never made to the swap meet. So... today I finished working on the idle speed, and I'll be at our next meet, bassett hound or no bassett hound. Maybe JimW can swing an Emerald Downs get-together for sometime in August? I'm getting married on the 29th, so that weekend won't work for me. smile.gif

Posted by: rdauenhauer Aug 1 2004, 10:25 PM

larry, start a new thread for the 8th. i'll come up. was that an S motor for $3500? remind me of the price. you should post it in the classifieds. that would sure be the ticket for a spare for rich. i know the owner has a good mechanic wink.gif .

It was nice meeting some fellow teeners at the Meet. beerchug.gif

I wound up picking up a bunch of lenses, 2 doors biggrin.gif What a price on those babies! And some other 914 stuff.

Yeah, I also noticed not a lot of people selling this year. maybe next year I will dig out some junk.... uh I mean treasured items to sell. <_<

kevin, what distributor you use with webers with a vacume take off.was it a 023? nice to meet alot of you guys too.im rotten with names .my wife is the type to leave me "to my porsche buddies"and minded the store lol she leaves me alone to do things that i enjoy. wink.gif .so sorry i didnt introduce her to some of ya

Posted by: rhodyguy Aug 2 2004, 11:49 AM

james, i think it was for a t-4 engined bus with carbs, a 205? i thought about that afterwards and wondered if it might have the wrong curve for a 914. i suppose you could use one for a d-jet if what you need is the vacum signal. all i know for sure is there is a back oder on the mallorys. did you caught in the I-5 close down due to the fires yesterday?

kevin

Posted by: morphenspectra Aug 2 2004, 12:17 PM

yeah we got caught in that big time. it sucked!we sat on i 5 for two hours,it was like a parking lot everyone was walking around getting out chairs. we was close to the fire though only like a 1/4 mile from it! when they finally let traffic go the other side was backed up for at least 15 miles.on the carbs im not going after all out performance.tring to get a slight perfomance boost with a manageble daily driver.im even looking for a 914-6 choke lever to use on my carbs,i want it to look right.(appearance & perfomance ) wink.gif
