914World.com _ 914World Garage _ an engine ponder....

Posted by: scottb Jan 14 2003, 06:13 PM

my 2.0 has about 7500 miles on a rebuild and is running just fine. but i have an itch to get another 2.0 and tear it apart to learn the engine and start on engine #2. i figure i have time and the chance to screw things up and not keep the teener idle without an engine. anyone else done this? it will be a great excuse to buy more tools and maybe try a new intake system other than the FI. then i can just swap engines until i die.... seems like a reasonable plan to me. laugh.gif

A reasonable plan for any 914 guy! More tools, more power, more 914 stuff! It is better than taking a good engine apart just to see what makes it tick... although I'm sure thats been done by many on this board. Good luck.

Of course we willl agree.. Its like asking a kid if he wants ice cream while holding it out in front of him/her.

Buy a core engine from our classifieds.. and have at it.

There are 2.0L engines for sale now at 914club classifieds, Shoptalkforums.com and PelicanParts.com. Look in the classifieds as they seem to come in bunchs especially right after the New Year. I guess people are cleaning out the garage for the New Year, hell I was......

I cured my wifes "Bitching Wife Syndrome Disease". We bought her a 914. Now she wants a V8 conversion and larger sway bar... stickier tires.. blah blah. After driving it a few months.. she now understands what the little cars are all about. She actually had a ride share partner from work stop riding with her because "she took corners too fast".

Its a GT flared 73 Silver 2.0

My wife loves driving Porsches, and she is damm good at it, but so far she had never gotten along with a 914. I may cure that some day.
