914World.com _ 914World Garage _ White powerder on the exhaust valves

Posted by: Eric Taylor Jul 27 2004, 04:50 PM

so I pulled the exhaust to work on the leak the other day and noticed that all 4 exhaust valves were ghost white, but when you put your finger on them you could rub the white of very easily. So this means i'm running lean right? I recently timed it and i'm pretty sure I did it right, but who knows. unsure.gif .

Running some sort of fuel additive?? leaded fuel?race gas?? It should be more brown unless some lead is getting in the fuel..

Our Subaru has a high mileage turbo, and it leaks oil into the intake. The plugs get a white ash buildup on them... How long does it take you to go through a quart of oil?

Lol, I wish I knew! I haven't driven the car on a regular basis yet. Just getting ready to.
