If you are running larger wheels and tires under your stock fenders or have installed flares could you please post a picture of your car? Also please include the following info to describe what we are looking at -
Wheel size and offset? If other than Fuchs list Manufacturer.
Tire size?
Any spacers?
Steel or FG flares?
Fender lip rolled?
Thanks!

Changed prior thread titled "Fuchs Fitment"
Could someone please explain to me the whole Fuchs fitment process.
Looking to put 8x16's on my car with steel flares.
What offset should I be looking for?
Whats an 8J ?
Whats a deep 6?
Whats a heart?
Difference between 911, 944, 951 ??? Whats the deeper lugnuts do for offset?
Thanks!
Here's the chart
Great chart. Thanks
Great chart !
I'm also in the market for 8x16's for the rear of my flared car.
Just read the chart and it looks like I'm way off. I thought the 951 rim had a different offset. The chart says the 951 rim is closer to the chassis. Is that right?
Yes.
IIRCC, Sir Andy taught us the name is also pronounced Fooks like Books right?
Rhyming it with "books" is pretty close.
The "J" in "8J" refers to there being a safety bead in the rim to keep the tire from rolling all of the way off it in a blowout.

Wow, great info! Thanks everyone. I amended my post to include the "S" .
These are 6X15's, not sure which offset..I should get off my butt and check the #'s!
Post your pics!
Since I still have this address copied...
Before I wrecked this car. It has subtle flairs, and 7.5x17 in front and 9x17 in rear on Mille Millia repro Cup1 wheels from a 944. These fit with no spacers needed. Now Scotty B has been using them while my next car is being worked on by him. The ass end is sitting high because there is no engine or tranz in that pic, IIRC. Later, it lowered out nicely.

17x8.5's or 9's (I cant remember)boxster twist rears, and 18x10's turbo twist rears.
HPH Flares.
99 Boxster 16's, 6" on front, 7" on rear with 205/55 & 225/50 Star Specs. Going to Cup wheels next, 7's & 8's so I can get 225's on front to help with turn in & threshold braking. 911 front suspension & brakes, 914/6 rear.

3 pc. Hartmann Racing Wheels
8x17 fronts with 14.5cm backspacing and 245/45ZR17 Yokohama Advan A032R tires
9.5x17 rears with 15cm backspacing and 275/40ZR17 Yokohama Advan A032R tires
Running 42 mm spacing in rear
Running 21mm spacing in front
17x7.5 all around 215/45/17. 30mm offset. 5mm spacer in front, none in back. Custom 4x114.4 hubs on all 4. Pushed the rear fenders out about 1.5"
Thats what you were looking for, right? Plenty of room for more tire! I could probably run 225s.

I've always thought 17 inch wheels fill out the wheel well very nicely on the 914.

I'll throw a pic of my POS in the mix...
9x16 rear
7.5x16 front
Both have the standard Fuchs offset 15 & 23
Custom photoshop, Red Baron
On mine, I'm running 18'' twists on both front and rear.
Oddly, all four wheels started out as 18x10's with a 40mm offset. i sent them off for refinishing, and had 2 of the wheels narrowed 2'', and those two are used for the fronts.
The fronts are mounted on 1979 930 hubs with the factory 1''spacer.
The rears are mounted on the 914/6 hubs with a bolt on 2'' spacer.
Everything fits good, with no rub front or rear.

Ron S- are those flares FG or steel? thanks
16X7 Porsche Phone Dials. 205/50/16 1 1/4 spacers all the way around, no lip rolling.

17x8.5 fronts with 17x10 rears. The rears are 275/40 tires and are a little too big. I plan to replace these with 255/40 when I put the wheels on my LS1 car.

3-piece Fuchs built wide but with 914-
proper offsets.
Built as 7.5x16" with 37.5mm offset using 1.5" and
6" BBS shells. I have 1/4" spacer on fronts, could use
more, but not for now.
Rear fenders have the lip (1970) rolled over and just
hand pulling. No more room in rear wells! (Outside or
inside). This is with 215/40/16 Kumho V710 autocross
tires. Fine tuning on rear with thin spacers on 1 side.
I thought jack stands were a factory option for most of you...
No pics, but 205/50/15s on 6X15 Fuchs fit fine all the way around for a narrow body, no spacers, rolling or pulling.
Steel GT flares are being fitted right now. 265/45/16 on 9X16 Fuchs seem to fit on the rear without any spacers. The fronts will be 225/50/16 on 7X16 Fuchs (23mm offset) and may need a small spacer to fill out the fenders.
7.5x16 205-55x16 lip rolled, 7 wide would be perfect.
Attached thumbnail(s)
7x16 fronts 8x16 rears (951 offset). Fronts have 205/55's & they will just catch my valance. I am going to go down to a 215/45 ( I have had that on before with no problems). On the rears my fenders are slightly pulled & have 225/50's. These could not be any tighter. Until I get my flares on these will probably come back off. I haven't rubbed yet but I think under some hard cornering it would. Funny as I have more space inside than outside. 7" fuchs in back with 215/45's fit nice
Attached image(s)
8.5 and 10X18 with 245/40's and 275/40's but I'm now running 225/40's and 285/30's which work alot better, the others were too tall. I like the 18's but I want a different deep offset wheel so I don't have to run such big ( 2.5" and 3") spacers. They're just too big and heavy and although I've beat on the car for several years without anything breaking or coming loose,
I just don't trust them.
Sorry for the horrible picture - here's mine with 16x8 & 9 Fuchs (951 front / 930 rear). I'm trying to figure-out the optimal wheel/spacer/tire setup now that my flares are finally done. I will likely end up with 17's at some point but am trying to get 15's or 16's to work for now (cheaper).
Mine are 17" with 205 45 fronts with 245 45 rears.

7.5x16 is that some kinda aftermarket wheel ? Or did you widen a 6 or 7 inch wheel
Really can't tell from the picture.
I widened them from 6's for my sons Golf now he has 17's .
That color!Soo similar to mine!A couple more shot of my 76 with 15X6's.Elliot still has the best fitment going.Love the size/fit.
Fuch 16x7 front and 16x9 rear. Its was funney to me that the 16x8 I had planed would not fit so I went with 9s.
245 45 16.
Engman kit. RSR strut. 180 springs. Very nice nutral drif. bigger front torsion

Here is Orangina with 5.5 X 15 Fr/Rr with 205/50-15 - Azenis 615R's - Love them!
Here is the Dark Knight with Ronal 16 X 8 with 225/50-16 Fr/Rr - Dunlop Direzza - Not so sure about these. May go to slicks.
I pretty much will stick with the Ronals. They weigh very little.

John, and Others with 8" wide wheels and 225 tires or wider on the front end, how is the steering effort?
I currently have 15 x 6.5" wheels with 205 tires and find that these are fine effort-wise. If I ever get the flares on I would like to go 8" all around, maybe...
These are cup II wheels 17x9 with et52 offset. The tires are 225/45/17. I am using 2" of spacers. Fiberglass flares from QRS.

I used to have 15x9 / 15x11 rear with 285-40-15 (super hard to find)
Now I have 18x8 (225/40) and 18x11 (285/40)
Can you fit 15x 7" at the front and 15x 8" at the back in a narrow body, without flaring/rolling? What about 16" of the same width??
Cheers
Craig
Still coming together, but I couldn't resist this opportunity. Here's where she was a couple months ago.
and somewhat more recently:
13x8 fronts, 4" backspace, 8" tire
13x10 rears 4.75" backspace, 11" tire
No spacers

Hey Mike (MAF),
I just put a brand new set of 225/50-16 Hankook Z214 Soft compound DOT slicks on. Rims are all 8" Ronals, and there are 3/4" spacers on the rear.
Turning the car is HARD! But it is only an AX car, so it is typically in 2nd or 3rd all the time after starting.
These tires are so sticky that it is double tough now to turn at low revs in 2nd.
But, that's why I went to slicks. The car sticks like paint.
No pics of the slicks yet.
Soon!

17x9, 18mm offset rears on 255/40/17 with 12mm spacers.
I need to bring the fronts in a hair as the rub a little when you go into a driveway sideways without slowing down enough.
Thinking about blacking out the centers...

Jimmy Mc's Mini Fuchs. 1x2's, they rub in the rear when driven hard. I'll put in a smaller spacer.
It's nice to have a car with center locks.
