914World.com _ 914World Garage _ oil temp wire run

How is the oil temp wire supposed to be strung around the engine compartment?

The PO poked a hole through the firewall, then zip tied it along the engine bracket. I'd like to clean this up.

Is it included in the wire bundle coming up from the firewall? Does it run to the control board? And back down with the alternator wires?

Up across the front of the motor above the motor mounts. There's a tab wrapped onto the wire that fits one of the bolts on the outer oil cooler mounting bracket. It goes up through the engine shelf on the right side, near where the fuel lines go through it. There's a connector up on the top side of the engine shelf there.

From there it joins in the main wiring harness, goes back down through the engine shelf with the rest of the wires, and then forward into the cockpit.

The 72s are wired differently; the above description is for the 73+ cars.
