Apparently there was a contractual 'window of opportunity' and Williams did a deal with Jenson Button.

BAR claim to have a solid option, but the rumor is that BAR didn't legally take up their option for 2005 on time and that allowed a deal to be done over a day or so!

Interesting battle ahead over that.

Also, it will be interesting to see who replaces him at BAR - Mika Hakkinen has been mentioned since he wants back in.

I also saw that D. Richards is saying there is no out and Jensen will be back
with the team next year. Who knows what the clause is. Subject to interpetation
I am sure of that. Maybe JB and his agent are gambling BAR will just let the thing
go. If BAR fight it and win they may end up with a disgruntled employee and those situations usually don't turn out well. Less motivation to do a good job for your employer. Ah, but if the fight it and loose they may end up loosing Button and it might be too late to secure another driver of any caliber. The whole thing just might be a calculated risk by Button and his agent.

I haven't really liked Button since he declared himself the best driver on the grid
but I don't blame him if he wants to move. These teams will cry out about being
loyal to the team and how much hard work has been done by the team. That is all fine and dandy until the team tires of a driver and then gives him the big foot into the ass treatment. I say if a team can do that a driver should be able to also.

Also I see the predictions coming. Man look at the lineup that Williams has.(Weber and Button). They are gonna just be great this season. I would think the Montoya, Ralph lineup was pretty damn stout also and look what that got them. biggrin.gif

Mika Hakkinen has said, that there is no smoke without fire, when he was asked about coming back and coming back to the wheels of BAR !?!?!

Just like Toyota did earlier this week with De Matta

IMHO - the problem is that the williams team just don't have their shit together. They seem to be lacking mundane logistics and knowledge of rules and what not. That is where Ferarri are getting their consistency from, along with just having shitloads of cash.
