We all do it!
Also, torque values exist for a reason. Learn to love your shop manual.
That was my first f u on a 914
Dang it I was gonna say , be careful the aftermarket wedge bolts seem brittle,
Hammer the wedge bolt in and snug the nut,
At least you been busy. Amazing what a few light bulbs will do.
...any of us here who have broken off a single bolt on a 40 year old ride knows your pain.
And, we all know that it's much more likely that each of us have probably broken much than a single item on these cars
I've personally enjoyed relearning all my long forgotten head bolt removal skills
Good luck on the next round dude.
The torque spec in most of the repair manuals have the wrong number. IIRC it's only 13-16 ft lbs
At least you didn't do that with your heat exchanger on a freshly rebuilt head. Then drill a hole for the extractor. Only to have the extractor break in that same hole. You got off easy
Are the parts were galvanized?
We had the same issue with zinc plated flywheel bolts.
16ftlbs for that...
at risk of much public ridicule...
what part is that?
Ball joint wedge pin
ah! thanks eric.
one of the areas of my poor car that's been free of my busy hands...
