I CAN'T DRIVE...55
Sammy Haggar
and I have the speeding tickets to prove it.
Hmmm....
While I'm not a huge Sammy Hagar fan I'm surprised nobody voted for "I can't drive 55".
At age 14 I'd had my drivers licence for about 2 weeks when my Mom's cousin took me for a drive in his new RX-7. He put me in the drivers seat for some high speed canyon carving up the Salmon River from Salmon to North Fork. (Gorgious country if you've not seen it) He put me through some intense instruction (He races bikes, carts, and cars) . I've never sweated that much in my life and won't ever forget it. Hagar was in the tape deck, so the experience is burned into my brain with that soundtrack. I still sweat when I hear that song.
-Ben M.

John Cougar- Cherry Bomb and Ain't Even Done With The Night.
I’m a rock ‘n roll type of guy, but today it’s …
“On the road again, I’m so glad to be on the road again”
I don’t know the rest of the song but I don’t give a shit because….
“On the road again, I’m so glad my 914 is on the road again”
YEEE-HAA!!! WOO-HOO!!! FUCKIN’ -A- BUBBA!!!
Yes, I may be just a tad happy today.

Favorite driving song: Radar Love (Golden Earring version)
Ury - Dixie Chicken, a car song? I don't know about that but one of my favorites just the same!!
Or what about that song "Hot Rod Lincoln"?
He said, "Son, you're gonna drive me to drinkin' if you don't stop drivin that hot rod Lincoln"
On the road again Willie Nelson
Used to take the motor home out for 4 weeks at a time and loved to drive across the USA to that song.
I couldn't wait to be on the road again.
Bernie
I can't remember the name of the song - I thought it was from David Wilcox - something about a radar gun.
It's radar gun by the Bottle Rockets. Listen to a clip of it here http://www.amazon.ca/exec/obidos/ASIN/B000002JUT/qid=1051667156/sr=1-2/ref=sr_1_2_2/702-5868011-3361666 .

Who Do You Love?
You doan wana be listening to any of these while driving around cops.
Dumbshit
I don't see why you guys like "radar love" so much...
Maybe it's because I've seen the Golden Earing (it's a Dutch band) and know they're a very uninspired bunch of jaded old farts...
Or maybe I've played the stoopid song too many times (wake me up in the middle of the night and put a guitar in my hands and I'll play it without opening my eyes)
cheers,
Jeroen
Round & Round - Ratt
Sorry folks - I dig the 80's glam.
Send me your avatar pic (not the small one) Rob.

My vote goes for Red Barchetta, but Radar Love is up there too. Actually, I don't usually listen to music while I drive. It drives people that ride with me crazy. I like just listening to the car. I'm not even going to put a stereo in my 914 I don't think. Maybe a removable unit in place of the center console........got to eliminate some more rust first.
Crawling in the Dark by Hoobastank - I love that song.
Hey, it could be about a guy trying to put his 914 back together "show me what it's for, make me understand it ..."
Sheryl Crow - Steve McQueen
Ohh and one more...
He's going the distance... by Cake.
Ferg.
ZZ TOP...............Manic Mechanic, She Loves My Automobile, etc.
Man - I almost hate to post my Top 10 list
'cause I know I'll leave something out. (in alphabetical order)
Born to be Wild - Steppenwolf
Crawlin from the Wreckage - Dave Edmunds
409 - Beach Boys
Fun, Fun, Fun - Beach Boys
Get out of Denver - Bob Seger
Highway Star - Deep Purple
Last Kiss - Wayne Cochran or Pearl Jam
Radar Love - Golden Earring
Suffragette City - David Bowie
Tulsa Time - Danny Flowers
"Dixie Chicken" by Little Feat may not be a road song, but they did a song on their first album (yes those vinyl discs!) named "Willing" that was.
It went something like this...
"I've driven every kind of rig that's ever been made,
Driven the back roads so I wouldn't get weighed,
If you give me weed, whites, and wine.."
The old days,
Mike
Free Bird - Lynyrd Skynyrd
Great tempo. Starts out nice and slow to get the engine warmed up, then kicks it up a little for some spirited driving. Great if you've got a route to match it.
applescotty,
Great avatar... welcome to the board.
B
Thanks Brad. As soon as I can track down the CD that has pics of my car, I'll add some to the member's cars thread.

Man in the box (alice in chains)
and
In the end (linkin park)
So.. when do we start burning and trading CD's ??
B
I had to read all four pages of this thread to see if I had anything to add.
Runnin' Down a Dream - Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers
Don't Come Around Here No More - Tom Petty
Ceremony - Joe Satriani
Summer Song - Joe Satriani
Nativity in Black - Black Sabbath
Psycho Man - Black Sabbath
The Rooster - Alice in Chains (song about his dad)
In particular I like songs that have you going 100 on the highway for no good reason except it feels good.
Jon, I've found myself going 100 to Tom Petty before... I like 'em all 'cept for the black sabbath ones, which I don't know. But it would seem you have good taste. I might have to check them out.
Someone else mentioned Meatloaf's paradise.. My ex was from Modesto, and I remeber driving around town with him listening to meatloaf while he told me the story of American Graffiti. Very cool...
Taste in music and cars, these are some of the important things we must pass on to future generations.
I think if we put together mix CD's and passed them out at our drives the number of "incidents" would go up
Ok,
I finally have my own account.
I didn't see Detroit Rock City yet.
My story is around "Trans-Am". We were caravaning down to the Street Machine West Coast nationals one year. My friend had a 71 Z28. I gave him my tape of Sammy. We had CB's going full blast between the 2 cars. All of a sudden I saw my tape almost go flying out the window. He stopped short of letting go. But let me know that he didn't appreciate the song much.
For those who don't know, one part of the song goes, "my Liscense is IEATZ28.
Anyway. Great list. Who has it on one sheet of paper?

Mine Offender is one of my all time favorite CD's.
Always had an affection for "little red Corvette" Not for the singer or the car. Just the hot chick who could dance her ass off and ended up taking me home for the night. Deep sigh and shit eating grin happening here.
To Brad and the rest of the Texan contingent...what about the true Texas love song...I love my Truck' by Lyle Lovett?? For driving music, give me the early Stones, any Motown and earily Led Zepplen. James Brown's Cold Sweat...OMG that is the one for a hot night at high speed. Afterwards, I like something soothing like Kate Webster, or Brenda Boyken's Smokin' Blues. Also, in the summer on a warm evening I need the Doors. Long live rock! Jim
