914World.com _ 914World Garage _ Spark Plugs for 2.2 Six?

Posted by: bcheney Dec 24 2011, 10:31 AM

I have a fresh 2.2 914/6 engine that will run with Weber 40's, E-Spec cams, 3 liter oil pump, K&N air filters with rainshields, standard distributor and MSD spark box, headers and 2 in 2 out sport exhaust. What would be the best plugs to run with this combo?

I'm a big fan on NGK plugs. BP5 or 6 ES would probably be about right.
If you have the complete MSD set-up (hot coil & fat wires), gap the plugs at .045.

Brian I am running plain jane NGK copper plugs in the 3.0 in the 914 + 911. They are cheap and don't foul and perform great. No reason to use anything else in my opinion. Merry Christmas beerchug.gif

Don't run any platinum plugs, they're junk in our engines.

BP8ES NGK plugs same as 911S is what i use in my high compression 2.4 engine. I get them at West Marine.

2.2 S pistons, solex cams, weber carbs, MSD6 al, running stock distributor with fixed advance.

Agree, NGK. had them on my 2.2 high compression w/MSD, never had issues.
