Friday Night Dinner: Parking Lot BBQ. HUGE props to new guy and Havasu local, Chris for hooking us up with his friend that caters BBQ. Dinner will be pulled pork, spicy pulled pork and bbq chicken. BYOB. $8 per person.
Saturday Night Dinner: The Awards Banquet on Saturday night will be at Barley Brothers Brewery.
The Saturday Drive will include the scenic Parker Dam and the famed run to Oatman but this year will be taking the drive in the opposite direction compared to previous years. Lunch will be in Needles at the Wagon Wheel. They have the best food and service on Route 66. If you don't believe me, see for yourself on http://www.wagonwheelneedles.com/

Check the Super 8 in LHC ... where I used to stay on business ... they have/had and indoor pool and hot tub.
And leave the "vegi crap" to the rabbits.

Sounds like a fun little road trip. I have a house in Bullhead. I may trailer the teener and have some fun. Otaman is a different town but thier beer is cold.

I just finished connecting the last few parts to complete the heat in Sandy's car. March here is likely to be very cold, icy and snowy.

The Hampton is a nice hotel that's within walking distance to the lake, the London Bridge and a bunch of different eateries. Plus, it's a big lot for everyone to park their 914's together. The pics on their website don't show much. I'll try to snap a few and post here.

Anybody with a bigger airport have an open seat? Probably still not in the cards for me but checking on options. I might be able to swing it on the cheap. Meaning splitting gas , sharing a room type cheap. I'd need to fly in as I wouldn't have the time to drive out & back. I'll already be in Vegas the week before which is a big reason my time is limited. Wasn't lucky enough for it to fall on the weekend I am already in the general area.
So no pressure on anybody but checking on possibilities?

RIQUE: Yeah, its 'done'! I've been lazy on finishing up a couple of things (trunk shocks and the like) but mechanically, I got it done the night before the Red Rocks . These events are what I need to motivate me to spend a little more time on the car. I should have the little things buttoned up by then.
JAMIE: I'm willing to split a room with you if you want. I'm reserving a room anyways. Regarding a 'seat', I could possibly pick you up in PHX if the timing was right. I'll be driving right by the airport anyways. I think I may have the car loaded with a bunch of stuff but if you travel light it could work. Anyways, let me know what you end up planning.

That's great to hear! I just got done reading everything I can on the 3.6, and I'm getting ready to pop it out of the black car you saw at Red Rocks and into my car! Considering everything is already 'fitted' and converted into a 914 already, it should be pretty straight forward, giving me time to finish all the incomplete items on it
Jaime, if it somehow works out for you to fly into either Orange County, LAX, or SD, you can hitch a ride with me to the event, no problem!

Hey Jason if you don't mind a roomate that would be cool. Can I kind of put a tentative yes there. We still have a bit & I am not a lock. I am going to try to make it though. I may even try to just drive down. Looks like just under 19 hours one way for me. Still might do a flight too. All depends on my 914's in 2 months. I want to have the LE sold by then. Of course I've been saying that for like 2 years now . I will definitely have it finished by then. Might be just the send off I need before I sell it? Then I have the v8 roadworthy again too. Not sure I would trust it for such a long drive though . Well at least I have a month & a half to decide

I've a little problem with the motor getting a little Too warm in about a half hour of driving.
I think I didn't put the oil temp. Taco plate,metal guard thingie that holds the wire.
on correctly. therefore hot reading, I read on some other thread about this.
And never really had a chance to get in there and get 'er done!
I'm still amaze of ownership of a house, can change a lot of things!
The house is not a money pit, but it need a lot of work.
But you know what? "It's all good"
Why? Because, I'm almost starting from a clean slate! 
Everything in the house is custom,
I have a wood shop in the living room!

That little show and shine is usually on our 'main street' but our city council, in all their wisdom, decided to stick it to 'em and would not work with the group to make it affordable. They decided to set up out at the mall on the north side of town. Too bad it's just during the day. Would've been fun to cruise the 914's around the show.

C'mon people, get signed up for this. This is always a great trip along a famous and historic highway. I was first on this highway in 1953!!! It has been around for a loooong time. It looks like this will be a good time to be in Lake Havasu City. I know for a fact that the girl in the leopard swim suit is a huge fan of Porsche 914's.

I am strong Maybe . I am making plans to come. I just won't have a definate until next month. Things have to line up just right for me to do it. With me being in Vegas the week before for work. Alot of it depends on work the following week. Worst case I leave late thursday night & drive through. So I am planning on making the trip. I am realistic enough to know I may get screwed & not be able to come

When I made my reservation Monday night, I spoke with Jerri. When I mentioned the 'Porsche' group, she sounded a little confused at first, but than she saw a note that said something like 'Porsche 99'.
I let her know that it was a Porsche '914' group, even though that other '9 series' Porsches were welcome to come join the 
We came to the conclusion that the '99' must have been the room rate ($99.)
Might be a good idea for each of us to confirm they have us on the correct list

Getting closer. Got my defrost rear window installed & wired. Getting the interior back in slowly. Waiting on the powder coater for my seat mount/rails. Hopefully next weekend I will have them back. Then it's due for a serious wash & wax. I get to drive it for a while to get any kinks worked out. Things are looking good though

I pulled the wiring out of another 74 I had. Was a serious PITA feeding the wiring through to the relay board. Spent half my day getting it all done. Suppose it was worth it though

Those look like the interior door handle inserts, not the outer surrounds. I bought some T1 repros from a local VW aftermarket store.
914rubber.com has both early and late door/window end caps. The OEM ones from Porsche are EXPENSIVE ... ask me how I know

Damn this week is going by quick. I've still got to finish fiberglassing my LE front valance so I can mount it. One hole ripped sideways. Just a couple things left on the interior. Ok, the route as planned:
Leave Riverside about noon ... I10 to 62 up thru Morongo & Yucca Valley over to Parker then up river on 95 to Havasu. Meet Kent in Beaumont and possibly meet Jim Lamonica in Yucca Valley.
Planned arrival is about 4 - 5 ... 'bout 4+ hour drive to Havasu.

So here is a funny one....the lady from the hotel calls me at 5:00 this evening. She called to tell me that there is no drinking in the parking lot. I naturally bust out laughing and then I realize she is serious. So I very politely explained to her that this is very much a deal breaker and had I known this we would have never booked it in the first place. I also explained that we have had these types of events in every state on the west coast and every SW state and have never, ever heard of this. Long story short....she was very accommodating and worked hard to get our rooms moved to an area that the rooms are all together have patios that we can all drink on. So, the point of this story is, when drinking in the parking lot, we need to put our drinks in something other than a beer bottle or can.
I think I am going to just keep refilling my "Coke" can and call it good.
Hell, even Utah lets you drink in the parking lot. WTF?

I just finished with a very similar program. A minor difference was mine was a 30 minute challenge but I followed it up with 6 minute abs. Luckily I just finished them both in time for Route 66.

I just got home from the Rt. 66 tour this evening. I hope everyone else got home safe. (Especially Jamie Rust). A big thank you to John Peterson (Elvira), Mike Wills (MoveQik) for organizing this trip, awards, and "T"shirts and also one of our newest members Chris Lay (Chris Lay) for providing us with a great catered dinner. I always come home from this trip on about 75 miles of the original Rt 66. Here is the obligatory pic.

Thanks to the organ donors organizers for putting yet another great Route-66 event together
Nice seeing old friends again and meeting some new guys and girls.
LaMonica and I went south on 95 and stopped for gas just before heading west on 62. The Pheenix/Twoson bunch showed up just as we were getting ready to leave the station.
Jim & and I parted in Yucca Valley and I topped off the tank again. Just as I got back on the road, I saw a 914 coming up fast in my mirror. Thought it might be a local to the area and he flashed his lights, so I slowed down a bit. It was SLITS, with Kent and Wendy following. We all continued west and on to the 10 for several miles ...
The 62 was nice ... fast and not much traffic 
The 'BB's maiden voyage went well for the most part, but lost my passenger-side rocker panel after I got back into town
Looking forward to the next event ![popcorn[1].gif](style_emoticons/default/popcorn[1].gif)
... and an ABS rocker

I made it to redding Ca & am stopped for the night. Absolutely zero problems with my car . Thanks to everyone for a great weekend. Especially for waiting on me & letting me borrow a tool or 2. While I didn't get my car sold at the event. I have a few pm's awaiting me from my Pelican add I placed last night. I had heard of a few guys getting some overseas interest from there. So put it on about 11 last night. Lots of looks at it so hopefully I will have a buyer soon

Thanks to all that attended! Great time and we got some new faces this year. Props to Peterson for organizing so much and to new guy, Chris Lay for being such a great local host and organizing our Friday night BBQ. His is the red car with the steelies, sweet car BTW!
Looking forward to next year!
PS - Jamie, send any potential buyers our way. We will attest that your car ran flawlessly all day long with all of us without any issues other than it's "mechanic" Glad your drive home is boring and uneventful!

That was a great time!!! I got a little sumpin' going on with my trans engaging first properly. Get a short whine sometimes right when cold. Need to figure that out.
Thanks to the organizers, Wills, Peterson and Chris Lay!! I appreciate the time and effort (and money) you guys gave to make this a fun event.

I had a blast. This was my first event hangin' out with other 914 owners. You all are great people. I hope everyone had a good time, and yes Michael, you were right. I pulled my 914 into the garage and immediately started a list of what I need to do to my car.

Well I drove straight to work. Got here about noon with no problems. Damned if I didn't take a picture with the Route 66 sign on the road & my car
I just figured my mileage for the trip. I logged a little over 2500 miles spread over 6 days . My iron seat award was well earned. I don't know how Rick does it

The weekend was a blast. Many thanks to those who put it together. The 914 crew was a great bunch of people to spend the weekend with. I have a feeling Ron (my copilot) will have a 914 by next year. Thanks again.

A great time for all. Wendy met Slits and approved. Blackie made her maiden voyage w/o incident. 700 miles round trip. Hit 120mph once and it was still pulling . A few pic's:
