So I'm hauling a bunch of parts to the metal cleaners today. Something I'd like to get all cleaned up is the heat flapper boxes. They pretty grizzly looking. Looking at the valve inside I'm wondering if its safe to have them dunked in acid or not. I can't tell, but it sort of looks like the circular spring plate inside might have some sort of rubber or fiber seal.
Does it? Or is it just all metal?
Hmm.
There was a woven fiber seal on the surface but its long gone in some of the flappers.
New VW bus ones don't have the seal.
