OK,
Looks like enough interest to put these back in production. They will be $115 + shipping. This is the airdam only.
I am re-valuating the rubber for these also. Before there just wasn't enough demand to produce it. But, if I can get 25 firm orders at $49 for the rubber only. I will make it. After the GB I would sell at $65, as these are a heavy rubber part
The airdams can be produced in a few weeks easily, but the rubber will require me to make a die and run it which is usually a 6-8 week process, so I will have one before the other, if there is enough interest.
The rubber will be retrofittable to the old dams, so if you have one (and I know there were a few out there) and need the rubber, you can buy just the rubber
So if you are interested post here what you want.
thx
Attched are pictures of one on my old car.
BTW- don't you love it when the new owner loves to taunt you by sending pictures like this.

I'll take 1 with rubber.
Mark, your pic is a little dark. Can I assume it is the same spoiler pictured below from the other thread?
Attached image(s)
I've always loved that setup with the rubber skirt. I would definitely be in for both airdam and rubber.
(Shout out to Rhodyguy, who gave me one of those fiberglass parts at a Seattle swap meet a few years back. Thanks Kevin, always appreciated that. I had to let that car go when I moved.)
Yes,
Tom found an old one that was useable and mounted it. Here's a better before.
Attached thumbnail(s)
I may be in for an air dam with the rubber.
Not a pretty as this one, but I really liked this picture.
Attached image(s)
Can the rubber be added/removed as-needed?
Say you wanted to run w/o the rubber on the street (curbs/driveways etc) and with the rubber at the track.
I sent you a SOT but related PM.
I'll take one with rubber as well. PM me an address and I'll send a check for what ever the total is.
Cheers, Elliot
Mark,
I would be in for 1 Air Dam.
Thanks.
Allen
I am in for one no rubber please!
I've got one of these units on my car and can testify that they are great.
Zach
Put me down for 1ea. rubber only.
Thanks, Marty
I bought one of marks Flexdams 2 years ago. It came with rubber which I mounted with separate brackets so I didn't poke holes in the fiberglass. I posted a few pictures back then but here is a few more.
Thanks Mark, hope all is well.
Mark,
Job interview on 2/10. Afterwards if I'm offered, definately want the kit w/rubber...
To clarify the part about being able to remove the rubber for the street, Yes, you can. The issue is the holes in the fiberglass that you would see. I guess they could be addressed with some type of plug. The bumper would come undrilled and I'm sure I could put together a hardware kit for mounting.
-Mark
This actually mounts on the tabs that the OEM lower metal cover would mount, there is pleanty of room behind it.
Im in for one airdam if i can come pick it up? No shipping .I need a reason to run south!
Jcl
I would just as soon not ship, but I have learned that custom boxes make life much easier.
So, yes pick up is fine.
Hmmm, i'd have to have a close look at one mounted on a car to see if there's room to mount brake cooler ducts to the spoiler.
If so, i'm in for a spoiler AND the rubber bottom ...
Is the spoiler glass? I have a flared car and would need to tweak it a bit. Do you give extra rubber so I could trim to fit??
If you tool up to make these, add a an inside fender lip to match the one on the fender.
I'm in for one, no rubber.
Thanks
Jeff
I am noticing that you must be reproducing these from the original that is posted on my car?
Is this the same one that is mounted on the silver one? Notice the end of the Dam is squared off and the one that others are showing is not!
Which one will we be getting?
First photo is the one I want and the second I will need more details and the third one just looks different!
Maybe they modified the second one for the flairs??!
Attached thumbnail(s)
Attached image(s)
I have one too. It can be spread a little for a flared car. I did cut a releif in both corners so it wouldn't crack...
I am into getting a rubber one. Please put me on your list and let me know when and how you want the money.
Steve Hurt
The one that I have tooled up for is this one. We didn't add any cooling ducts, or make larger edges for flairs, however they can be modifed as some of my customers have done. The problem with setting up for flairs is that there are 2 differnt manufacturers of the steel, and also fiberglass ones. I don't have a way to assure the fit, so I made the tooling with a netural blended edge. It can be modified. It's just a matter of cost, and I'm trying to keep the cost down.
Attached thumbnail(s)
One with rubber ...............
I'd be in for one without rubber. What's the damage on getting one to TN?
I am in for one with rubber and one with no holes, no rubber.....Thanks again Mark for making these................Jerry
Count me in for one with rubber.
-Dave
I would buy one looks great Robert21 with rubber thanks
Attached image(s)
+ 1, w rubber...
One of each, please.
Looks like about 14 for sure and about 6 maybes for the fiberglass portion. I was able to get the cost down from $125 to $115 as it looks like there will be some quantity.
Looks like 19 rubber sections.
Just to clarify, the rubber is added to the fiberglass section, you don't need to have the rubber, but you need the (or a ) fiberglass part to mount the rubber to.
looks like we are close enough that the rubber will get made, just need to get 6 more commitments to make it pencil out, and I'll bet there are enough older airdams that need it that we can pick up the balance.
I'm having custom boxes made for these so that they can ship easier than last time. I can't see the shipping being more than $30 as an average
Im in for 1 airdam and the rubber
In for 1 plus rubber!
John
I'll take one with rubber too! Keep me posted on the details. Thank you!
Count me in for the fiberglass air dam only. Any idea about shipping cost to So Cal (92344)?
It's awsome that you will be able to make another run of the air dams. Now, if we could just get SSI to make another run of the 2.0L stainless heat exchangers. Does anyone have a source for these?
Unfortunately, yes. They are selling to a company in Germany, and your looking at above $1000 a set.
I was just digng thru my stash of parts and found i have one front airdam with the brake ducts. I dont know if you were looking for one to mold?
I still need one with out rubber and i will pick it up when done. Any PNW's that want me to pick theres up and hand off along the I5, I would be happy to do so. The little diesel sould have enough room for a few.
Jeff
I'll take one without the rubber.
Dave
These really worked on my 914-V8 I had several years ago in Santa Clara. I really liked the rubber extension for air flow and the speed bump/curbs.
I read in your comments you need the fiberglas to mount the rubber. I do have an older front the rubber mounts to but you also need additional purchasers for the fiberglas unit. Will the fiberglas part fit and match to a 916 front bumper??
Oh, what the hell. Put me down for a faberglas part and I have already said I wanted the rubber part. That should give you a total of seven. Just let me know where, how, and when to send the funds including shipping costs. Shipping costs would be to 86001 (Flagstaff, AZ).
Keep building your quality parts. Any mods needed to match the 916 bumper will be made at this end.
Steve
I'm in for one with rubber!
I will be including the hardware to mount the fiberglass to the body, I'll be also including the hardware on the rubber side for the connection to the fiberglass in stainless also.
I'm in for 1 flex dam with rubber. Thanks!
I would like one with rubber. Let me know how you would like payment.
Thom
I would like one with rubber.
Kelvin
I would like the airdam. No rubber.
Count me in for the air dam with rubber please.
Thanks
David
Any update?
Marty,
Your timing is impecable. The first 3 will be ready Friday, and James is making these as fast as he can so we should see the bulk of them hitting next week. I'm sending out PM's shortly.
-Mark
Sweet I have to be in Oregon next week. If im on the PM list i can pick it up on the same trip..
jcl
$$$ sent!
Mark, do you have any rubber that won't crack at the screw holes in 2 years? UV rated maybe?
Money sent through Paypal!
crud..
I just ripped my fiberglass one.
how much is shipping looking to be ? (no rubber)
I figure its a big box and a lot of shipping
Shipping to CA was just under $17! So I would think to you it would be a bit more but close from Hillsboro, OR!
Just to clarify the rubber mounting will be the same as it was done on the original manufacturer's part, a split so the mounting hardware is reconciled. This allows for the rubber to be used on an original fiberglass part. So they are not really "upgraded". Just available with rubber that will be retrofittable to the originals for those that have them.
Mark,
I had better get one
I will take my cracked one off and see If I can piece it together...
but I had better put my name onto this list for one fiberglass only
(I have a rubber part already)
thanks
brant
Payment sent.
I want one with rubber please.
Estimated shipping to begin 2/14 if I read correctly. I payed on 2/22. I have 100% trust in Mikey/Markie...But I'd also appreciate an update since we are about to head into the third week of March with no product and no response to update requests.
I'm not scared yet. But we are definitely needing a break from communication silence. Talk to us MikeyMark.
I would like one if these as well if that is possible.
Thanks for the update Mark.
For those of us with a front mounted oil cooler or radiator..how coul we modify one of these to let air in? I have a FG part now but it's on its last legs and I could use a replacement, but would prefer to not hack up a brand new part...
Any update for us "rubber only" customers?
Is there a cut-off date when these will no longer be avail at this price? I'd like one - but timing is not 'perfect' - thx td
The die drawings are getting finalized now I'll be able to share a profile next week. It will be about 10 days to get the die and I will be at the press when it's extruded to approve 1st article and we can get the production run from there.
As production hasn't really started rolling yet I'll keep the GB open for the month of March I'll also be giving one away at WCR!
I'll post the picture of the part and tooling as promised shortly. But for now off for 2 hrs of hot yoga!
What was I thinking?
just got off the phone with James. He's pulling these off now and were looking for at least 10 to be ready to ship on Wednesday. Just trying to give everyone the heads up.
Die drawings are beind finalized this week for the rubber and I'll post a profife as soon as we get it done.
-mark
Mark! I'm interested in a dam with rubber. I'll PM you...
Update on thread. Got the drawings for the rubber tooling done. Made a slight improvement by placing an allignment rib on the back side for hardware.
Tooling is going forward I will be at the line when the 1st article is produced to allow for production to be done right off the same press. This will save 2 weeks in the production, as I'm allready a bit behind on this part.
Attached thumbnail(s)
too late to jump in on the GB?
No, they are moving slowly, I'll drop you the PM.
We are 1 week closer to getting our dams
Cant wait
Got mine with the windshield seal too! Thanks Mark, they're beautiful.
Rubber I can wait for.
How 'bout an update on the fog light grills (chrome & black)?
I will take one with rubber pretty please!!
These are being shipped out in the order paid as it''s on paypal, yours is actually going out today. Sorry James has been a bit slow on these.
Thank You Mark!
It's been a while...... I have more patients - er patience - than Dr Evil.
Any chance it will arrive in time to install before WCR?
How far did Slits beat me??? Dang I thought I paid early.
Wow, Thanks Mark it looks great!
Other than a few shipping scratches and nicks it looks great.
I cant wait to get it on! Too bad I wont be able to drive my car to the WCR
Attached thumbnail(s)
Thanks,
I was happy with the way they turned out. I hope to have these caught up so I can actually put one on mine for the drive to WCR. They are nicely layed up with enough material that they are quite sturdy.
-mark
Thanks Mark. I got mine today.
I will be delighted if it fits on the car as perfectly as it does in the custom shipping box.
Thanks,
The good news is the rubber will be ready when I get back from WCR. The shipping on these has gone slower than I would like, part of that is my fault. I have been taking on so much of James' inventory that he's been real busy pumping out those items.
Good news is there will be a new item to show at WCR.
Hey Mark, the air dam looks really sweet! Do you have an ETA on when the rubber will be ready?
Dam came in the mail today. Looks great! Now if only the rest of the car looked that good...
Hi Mark..... How do I order one?
Mikey!!!! Can I help you build a tracking system to keep paying customers informed? As a customer of yours, this is torturous.
How would you feel if...
A vendor says product will begin shipping on 2/14/12.
You purchase and pay on 2/22/12.
End of April, you still have no product and no communication from vendor.
If this was any other ebay seller or online vendor, how would you feel?
I don't mean to be an ass, because I know this is a special situation. But, some communication would really help. I guess I'm too used to the way things are supposed to work. But no reason this has to be different, and I'm willing to help. Communication is key.
I would be interested,
PM me withthe details
My contribution would be an online database-driven customer solution where customers who have placed orders could log in and see the status of their order. Like you are used to seeing at other vendors.... Status could be... Preparing, packing, shipped, etc. Once shipped there should be a tracking number.
I'm not sure this would be helpful because it would rely on the vendor to update the status of each order. If that is something that could happen on your end, let me know and I will happily help you build.
Any chance I can get an update on a potential ship date of my February order?
Look Great can,t wait to get mine , payed along time ago. but i can wait.
Robert21
Finally got it, today! Whew. Thanks Mark. A perfect product.
Any idea of potential delivery on the rubber?
Believe it or not still shipping on these The prototype rubber has been approved for production, the rubber will be available in 10-15 days.
Attached thumbnail(s)
Thanks Mark. Updates are everything!
15 days...... can't wait.
These look so good.
Got the glass part yesterday, BUEATIFUL !
thanks so much, and great news on the rubber, i am gonna wait till I get it before I instal this piece.
THANKS
Hi Mark,
I need one with rubber please.
Thank you.
Hi Mark,
I'm not in any rush
but just wanted to verify that my name is still on the list
thanks
brant
Also curious where I am on the ship to list? Thanks again Mark for producing these!
I haven't really followed this thread; but I'm assuming the rubber chin will not fit on a LE spoiler...correct?
Sorry,
I had forgot to include the screws to mount these I will get them to you and the others. These are the same screws used to mount the lower vallence. An oversight, but I'll take care of this.
-mark
Hi mark,
I would like a dam with rubber
Irv
Its been 15 days
Are we there Yet ?
These went out today, I'm getting closer.
Attached thumbnail(s)
Waiting for rubber part, hope it everything is going alright with the shipping
of the rubber part. Great air dam looks better that any i have seen. just need the rubber to put it on the car. Thanks Robert21
The rubber part has not shipped yet. The extrusion will be ready next week, we need to cut and pack. It hasn't been lost, just taking longer.
Thanks,
Mark
Well took a little longer as it allways seems to. But, I'm very happy with the final product.
The rubber is actally a hybrid of plastic and rubber that is more abrasion resistand, lighter, and thermally formable, and has a really good fit. It's easily cut.
I have the rubber and I'm shipping it out tomorrow. Most of you that have prepeide should have got a email with tracking info. If you didn't contact me. I know there were a few of you that may not have noted what your payments were for. Just drop me a PM with your email so I can get them out.
First I notched the corners section out of the back of the corners, and installed it on the fiberglass section.
Attached image(s)
I then drilled the rubber and fiberglass using 5/16" drill bit.
NOTE - Place a piece of metal under the fiberglass to keep from drilling all the way through. I tried it at first just being really carefull. I wound up just using an old spoon, but anything with some meat will keep you from drilling all the way through.
Attached image(s)
Install the carrage bolts and place washers on the back side with nuts.
Attached image(s)
And cut the drop to create the edge. Use a very sharp knife and soapy water and the rubber will cut like butter.
Attached image(s)
Install.
Well maybe not here
Attached thumbnail(s)
Attached image(s)
Note that the improved " rubber " section is thermally formable. I draped the edge over a halogen light guard for about 2 minutes and bent the rubber into a 270 deg bend. After dropping it into cold water for 5 min., it's set.
Attached thumbnail(s)
Anyone who wanted just the rubber let me know I know there were a few of you.
Thx
Can you please provide the dimension shown in the image below?
Thanks, Marty
Attached image(s)
Im so excited. And I just can't hide it !
thanks
Nice work Mark!
Douglas Wright (project914) used to have a similar dam on his 914-6, and the car was lowered a bit. Sure, the rubber bit scraped the ground when pulling in/out of parking lots, etc, but it never hurt the rubber.
Can it be expected that the rubber will hold up to similar abuse? It's the point of the rubber to help minimize the amount of air that flows underneath the car, so it would actually work better on a lowered car?
Thanks! Just trying to smarten up.
Payment sent 1 Dam + 2 rubber bottoms...
I still have my original Flex Dam but the lower rubber section could use a replacement...I can't wait!!
I actually like air moving under my cars ... it helps to dislodge all the spiderwebs that build up from sitting too long
I got my rubber today. Great product. Thanks Mark.
The material does look and feel like it will be better than the original.
Got mine in the mail yesterday !!!
THANK YOU
Attached image(s)
Just finished installing Marks air dam. Looks great. Three inches from the ground in the center. Also installed some eyetalian driving lights I got at the Parts Heaven swap meet. Now I just got to figure out how to wire them up.
Attached image(s)
I must admit, I didn't understand the need for this product - I mean really, how hard is it to find a piece of rubber and attach it to a piece of fiberglass? We did it all the time growing up (used conveyor belts worked awesome).
I had no idea the fasteners were hidden like that!!!
Another beautiful part. Very impressive.
Sigh. I edited. Let me just ask, as a customer who paid on 2/22, five months ago, when should I expect to hear something about when my order might be delivered? What is your idea of what a reasonable delivery timeline should be - or if there are delays, what do you expect for communication from a vendor?
FWIW, I got mine really quick < 3 days... and it's amazing! I'm going to try and get some pics next to my 'original' Flex Dam that's on my car now (for the past 12 yrs or so)... Mark's makes the OE look like a bad knock off.
Mark, I got the dam. I'll pm you about the rubber.
Just catching up with this thread. Is it still possible to get one of these with the rubber bottom? Will it match up to already welded in flairs?
I have one of these left from the GB that I had been holding for someone that I've been unable to contact. I was cleaning out the "warehouse" and want to get this out.
Same GB price $115+ shipping. I'll offer up the rubber at the GB price if you want it too.
Just PM me if you're interested
Mark,
I have one of your air dams from the group buy, how do I get the rubber piece? How much?
Thanks
DAvid
I would also like just the rubber from the group buy if you have any left.
There's actually another thread going. This was the 1st one. I generally don't re open group buys but as a member needed it and I was going to discontinue them I figured I'd start another thread. Yes, I'll add you in, but I'm going to have to figure out how to consolidate them.
