Okay 914 GearHeads, give me input.
Are rear hubs from a '67 911 the correct choice for a true 5-lug conversion?
Brakes... Are 3" offset "M" calipers a good choice for an budget upgrade? Are these from a mid 70's/ early 80's 911? What else is needed to convert a '72 914-4?
Thanks in advance, George.
this will get you started ...

Thanks Sir Andy! Good start.
I am getting a set of '67 911 hubs and I am looking into the options for stub axles. I am aware of the 914-6 stubs, but as you know they are very pricy. All of this will need to mate to a 914-6 transaxle.
Thx, George.
Rear hubs designed for 911/912s prior to MY 1969 will not fit a 914 (or even a later 911). The whole setup is different, the carrier, the bearings, the hubs, and the stubs are different. The pre '69s use 2 wheel bearings, later cars use 1. The hubs are longer, as are the stub axles, and the splines are different. You can use 914/4 axles to mate up to the 914/6 transmission flanges. Since 914/6 CV joints are NLA, and have been for years, that's what we use. Have to change the assemblies, though, because the splines on the axles are different. I'm not clear what you have planned for the front, but you'll need 911 struts to utilize 911 brakes and hubs unless you use the custom hubs mentioned elsewhere on this list. The Cap'n
So then, What will work for rear hubs? I have always heard that the "early" 911 hubs will work. So, what years then '69 and ?
Thanks, George.

Thanks again B!
George.
Cap'n & Brad: My roller 914 chassis already had the 914 5 lug conversion when I bought it. It also came with a 915 transmission. There were no axles or cv's in the deal though. Can I use 69+ 911 axles? What would you recommend for a 400 hp car? I know that there are upgraded "bus" axles that are being sold for big dollars and on e-bay there are guys selling 930 adapters for sand rails. All this is a little confusing for the guy who just wants to know what he should get.
The way I understand it is the connection from transmission to wheel is as such: transmission flange connects to cv joint which connects to axle which connects to cv joint which connects to stub axle which connects to hub which connects to wheel. Is this correct? If so, my driveline would be as follows: 915 transmission hub to 69-72 911 cv to 69-72 911 axle to 69-72 911 cv to 914/6 stub axle to 69-72 hub.
Does this make sense? Or am I all buggered up?
