914World.com _ 914World Garage _ 2056 oil system reccomendations

Posted by: jmargush Feb 20 2012, 07:03 AM

So I have bee reading old posts about full flow oil systems.
What is the reccomendation for a 2056 build, stock oil system or full flow?

Are there any good posts documenting the modification for a full flow system?

Which galley plugs are removed and tapped?, is a remote filter used? is the stock cooler kept?

I'm running a 2056 with raby 9550 cam and valve train upgrade.
D-jet, stock pump and cooler. 6000 miles since September and everything is performing flawlessly.

Also running a 2056 with KB pistons-Webcam and D/jet. Stock pump and oil cooler--lots of oil pressure and no overheating problems. I think the full flow mods are usually done on Type 1 motors.

I too am running a Jake Raby 2056. He recomended a larger oil pump on mine because I'm using the drilled cam followers. The small holes in the cam followers allow oil to flow onto the cam as it runs. When the oil is hot you need the larger pump at idle or the pressure can get low. I believe the stock pump is OK with solid lifters.
