He everyone...
I lost my conversion table.
my spec. book indicates 15 mkp torque on the 6cylinder flywheel bolts.
what is mkp.. or more importantly, how many foot lbs is that?
thanks
brant
Make sure you are using brand new flywheel bolts. DON'T re-use the old ones.
The pelican site was 150nm which is 111lbs. I thought it was more like 65lbs? I don't have my book handy.
Uh, off the top of my head, I recall my 914/901 flywheel bolts being up around around 85 ft/lbs
yep.. bought brand new ones...
hmm....
should I go 65 or 111... hmmm...
I've got a spec book but don't know what 15mkp is?
help
brant
110 ft/lbs for the 6 bolt flywheel......65 ft/lbs for the 9 bolt..
thanks everyone...
thanks JP and cloudbuster and rootworks...

My numbers were for a -4, sorry.
I did find this handy converter on the Web though...

JP nailed it. The 6 bolts pattern gets the stretch to 90% yield, hence the replace every time thing.
In 1978 porsche put out a service bulletin that said you don't have to replace the bolts anymore, i guess that means that iffn you have a 3.0 or later you can re-use them, 2.7 you replace em every time.
15 MKP is 108.51 ft/lbs. I replace EVERY flywheel bolt EVERY time. 13 or whatever dollar bolts are zip compared to the labor and parts to replace a crankshaft or even the money to replace a flywheel (or a tranny!). Ya pays yer money, ya takes yer choice ............ The Cap'n
Hay Cap'n, I got some slightly used ones (only torqued once) I'll sell ya for half price.
