Getting frustrated searching for 16x8 911 offset Fuchs. I love the look but can't justify the 2K to have them in my hands in the next few days. I have a WTB thread here and on Pelican. Hopefully, someone has a decent set they want to part with for a reasonable price.

I see a bunch of 15's out there. Do they still even make tires to fit the 15x7 & 8's?

Until then, let's see what you have. I do like Superlites, unfortunately they don't make them in 16x8's.

Where do you see these 15 x 8's?

Posted by: jmill Feb 28 2012, 07:10 PM

Ebay, Pelican and almost any Porsche Dismantler.

Beautiful RSR finish pair here: http://www.ebay.com/itm/FUCHS-WHEEL-PORSCHE-911-RSR-15x8-/150768174122?pt=Motors_Car_Truck_Parts_Accessories&vxp=mtr&hash=item231a7bc42a

Phone dials. I run 16x7. There are wider ones to.

Posted by: jmill Feb 28 2012, 07:29 PM

Do you want me to click the mouse for you? WTF.gif

Go to ebay motors, choose wheels and type in Porsche Fuchs. There's like 5 15x8's there right now.

16"X 8" and 16"X 9"s Performance Products copies but they are very light compared to the 15"X 8"s I replaced.

Looks nice Rick. I've been thinking about replicas but I already have 16x7 Fuchs for the front. Figured I was halfway there.

Those euromeisters sure look great. They are coming out with 17" Fuchs copies in a couple months.

blink.gif I sent them an email about two months ago asking if they made 16x8's for a 914. They called me back and said not in the one piece. They said I'd have to go with 3 piece wheels.

I love the RSR finish and the price is right for a set. I did some searching and it seems that they have some runout issues and vibration. Is this still the case?

I was under the impression there was strength issues with the Fuchs repros for anything but street use.

Automotion had pulled the wheels from their site for a while. Now they offer 8x17 and 9x17, 8x16 and 7x16. Notes now say-
"Manufactured using water & air cooled low pressure casting equipment resulting in the strongest and lightest cast aluminum wheels on the market. This design allows us to manufacture a wheel only slightly heavier than a more expensive forged wheel. Finished wheels are then completely X-Rayed to insure quality and strength."

Have seen other manufactures us a spin-casting method.
Cast will never be as strong as forged.

Anyone know if the Fox Rota Linea Corse 17x9's will fit under the rears with AA flares? I'm also concerned about the strength. This car will see some track time.

TC tried on his orange GT and it looked like the spacing was too tight. Tires were 245's. You might be able to fit if you pull the fenders a bit before paint.

Saw a red 914 with hand formed flares with them on and it looked great. I'm going with an old school theme and they wouldn't fit in otherwise I'd be on them.

These are "Cups" from a 928 in 7's & 8's with 225/50/16 Star Specs. Got them in rough finish from "Porsche dismantler" in CA shipped to VA for $500. Spent another $150 to a buddy to paint them & they look pretty killer on Buttercup. My flares are huge, so plenty of room....

The more I look around the more I think I'll go with the Euromeisters in 17x8 and 9". At $209 a piece I won't break the bank and actually have some tire choices.

I have 8x16 911 offset Fuchs on my GT clone with AA flares. The rears with 245/45x16 Yoko's with no spacers have about a 1/4 inch of clearance to the fender arch lip. Some of your clearance will be dictated by the flare installation.

Posted by: Travis Neff Mar 4 2012, 11:51 PM

No-one has actually seen the 17's yet, I think the picture is of 16" wheels. They are backordered till mid april? There is a thread on the bird board 911 tech section about this.

All right. Finally going to start to spend money on my project again. Can't believe it's been 2 years. I was even close to selling.

Anyhow, anyone running the 17" Euromeisters? I need to get this thing off the jack stands. I'm thinking of going with the 17x8 in front and the 9's in the rear with 255/40/17's and 225/45/17's. Are spacers required? I haven't painted it yet so I can massage the flares a bit.

On the Fikse or the Euromisters?

Posted by: BIGKAT_83 May 14 2014, 11:57 AM

The car in the picture with the Euromister has spacers on it to space the wheels out. It has 10" flares on the back.
I've tried the wheels on my steel flared car without any spacer at all. They have a 255/40/17 Dunlop tire and fit great.

Btw I recently went back to 15's and really like them, with r compound tires they stick as well as the wider 17" wheel combos... although I'll probably heat cycle them out before the tread wears off. I kind of like the gear ratios of the taller tires more though... atleast for the street.

Yea most of the 15's are miata tires or competition tires.

My Nitto NT01's in that pic are 45 series, so they are only 23" tall, my 17's I think were about 25" tall. The short tires are good for a/x if I don't run out of rpm... They would be really short with MSX gears... For the street and freeway the 25" tall tires seem to be the way to go.

I think Performance Products has reasonably priced aftermarket 17 inch fuchs wheel.

Performance Products linked me to Ecklers which looks like Automotion.

Ecklers bought a bunch of Companies - they have the absolute worst customer service of any American Co.

The 7" rim has ET 23.3 and the 8" has ET 10.6. Will the ET 10.6 work up front?

Anyone confused24.gif

All right, I think I figured it out. The 8" rim has 1" more backspacing. So they both stick out the same distance and the 8" rim will have less clearance to the inner fender. Sounds like I'll need a 1" spacer if I go with the 8's.

Am I wrong?

Anyone with 16x9 real Fuchs fitted ? .... obviously on rear with GT flares.
If so what size tires ? any spacers ? any real clearance measurements ?
rolled back or trimmed fender flanges ?

EDIT: My apologies for the lapse of attention - this post I'm replying to is over two years old! So this is a hijack, albeit an unintentional one. Read on, interested parties; all others ignore this. wacko.gif
Yes, I have 16x9 real Fuchs on the rear of my car, under GT flares. Tires are 245/45 Potenzas. I had to go with Kumho for the front 16x7s but they are comparable tread wear rating so there hasn't been an issue with them… so far. There is too much clearance for the front which is aesthetically displeasing to my eye, so I plan to put 1" spacers on the fronts. No clearance issues with the rears, but they are close. No real measurements, but I suppose I could try to measure it. Fender flanges are were rolled a bit, I believe.

I have always used Fuchs but recent bought three pair of Braid Fuchs repro/replica wheels and they are very nice quality, and light. I mainly did this as 16x9's in the rear are taller than I want, and factory 15x9's are the wrong offset. So one set is black+satin Braid 15x9 in back and factory Fuchs 15x8 in front. The other set is RSR-ish finish Braid 15x9 back and 15x8 front. I run Hoosier R6 and tires are readily available thus far.

Braid makes numerous sizes and finshes and will do custom offsets also.
