914World.com _ 914World Garage _ Brake pedal assy wiring

Posted by: matthepcat Mar 1 2012, 03:28 PM

Hey world,

I searched for a while to no answer.

I have a 75' car, and am trying to find out what all the wires coming off the brake light switch on the pedal assembly are.

Only reason I ask is there is a red wire with white stripes coming out of that connector unconnected. On the 74' wiring diagram it looks like it went to a Voltmeter??

Thanks! smile.gif

track 51 does show a red/white from the brake light switch to the voltmeter in the console. Do you have a console with a Voltmeter? You can also see from the diagram that red/white supplies power to several gauges, lights, stuff ...

I think that was the way the '75 voltmeter was wired. I remember the gauge deflecting every time I hit the brakes, then wired it directly to the fuse panel... smile.gif

My car may have come with that stuff.

I actually am installing new gauges, so maybe this could be a good source of switched 12v.

My conversion has a giant alternator, so I have no brake light flicker.

Thanks for your input guys.
