Did passenger side mirrors not come stock on the 914s?

I'd like to have one, but would hate to un-stockify..

Oh Man, you need to look for the

ULTRA RARE

passenger side mirror. The only place I have ever seen them is on eBay. They go for $200.

<_<

Ok, now that I've had some fun, the answer is no. You flip a regular mirror over. There are two weld nuts on the pass door already. You need to pull the panel and use a center punch to mark where to drill from the outside.

Now, wasn't that easy!

Yeh it did, right after you went to the glass shop and asked them to put one in.

And I believe freshman college boy, you would want the glass to be convex. blink.gif

The tapped mounting holes are there, you can feel them inside the door, locate the holes inside the door and use a small punch to center the hole and make a light impression to show on the outer door skin then carefully drill just breaking through the metal, you can use the driver door mirror mounting holes to size the drill bit.
Any driver side mirror will work if you loosen it up and flip them around.

nope....concave. convex, youd see sky, and road but hardly anything behind you wink.gif

Well Bud, I drive a semi when our flaky drivers don't show up and the mirrors on it are Convex so you can see the idiot 4 wheeler doing really stupid things just before you run over his ass.

But I guess being from Corona, concave works for you biggrin.gif

I've installed a mirror on my car using the original mounting points. As Iamchappy said, remove the interior door panel and reach up to locate the welded nuts. Use a punch or similar tool and tap the center of each nut to mark the drill point. Then drill from the outside. First I covered the area around the holes with masking tape to prevent scratches if I had a tool slip. I was concerned about fouling the threads, so I used a small bit and gradually enlarged the holes using larger bits and then a tapered rotary file. I cleaned everything and used a rust preventative primer on the bare metal, then screwed in the new mirror with rubber gasket.
