914World.com _ 914World Garage _ Price on a new or used speedo cable

Posted by: dlo914 Sep 23 2004, 11:24 PM

For some reason when i got my 74' 1.8 the speedo cable was snipped off....so how much would a new or used speedometer cable go for? and are they easy to install?

Used? Hmmm. They aren't that expensive. Installation is running the cable from under the car into the center tunnel and up to the front of the passenger compartment, without interfering with the shiftrod or other cables. Then up under the dash to the back of the speedo. Not too difficult. You then snake the cable back to the tranny and screw it in. A few tie-wraps to keep it from falling down and keep it away from the heat exchangers and you're in business.

I think I paid $11 or something from a fellow forum member when I bought mine used.

Still haven't put it in, but that's a different story...
