914World.com _ 914World Garage _ rear caliper rebuild

Posted by: anderssj Oct 2 2004, 04:16 PM

Left rear caliper is dragging, picked up a spare on e-bay hoped to install it while I rebuilt the original. When checking the "new" one today, I pulled unscrewed the inner (metal) adjuster cover--and was surprised when brake fluid oozed out. I guess that means that the "new" caliper also needs a rebuild? mad.gif (bad seal on the adjsuter?) If I'm off-base on this, please let me know.

For now I plan to rebuild the "new" one while it's off the car--besides, this one has the standard hex-head through bolts, instead of the "RIBE" head bolts found on the original caliper.

Thanks in advance for your thoughts and advice.
