914World.com _ 914World Garage _ What tool do I use to HOLD the pulley

I asked the wrong question before....

What tool holds the crank pulley from moving while I loosen the pulley bolt?

Thanks,

Bill P.

It's been said to try an impact wrench. I'll try that tomorrow.

Any other ideas or someone know the wrench I'm looking for. I have the wrench for my former engine, a 74 2.7 litre, but it doesn't work with the 993.

Thanks,

Bill P.

there's a special wrench that you use, it goes on the top fan-part of the alternator. it's like a C-Shaped opening with two pins that fit into the holes on the front. you then take the alternator bolt off with the shims behind it. Replace the belt, and install the new one.

I used a flywheel lock.
It slides over one of the trans studs and locks into the starter ring teeth.

Air wrench worked fine for mine. Is that going into a 914???
