Damn, the rich white boys from the beach speak

I can do $25 - more if the goal for a brick isn't reached - I guess I'll have to charge for parts from now on. This brick better be good smoke.gif if were gonna pay that much.

BTW - what is the goal - dollar wise?

Brick by brick, we're gonna build a stairway,
A path to racer's heaven so far away,
A place called the corkscrew,
Drivers a plenty it has screwed.

From the flying Can Am cars of long ago,
To the Grand Prix bikes, a wonderful show,
The memories all contained in these turns,
Of all the pilots this track has burned.

914world.com, it's members are fanatics,
Bricks we can lay to fill in small cracks,
And from this brick fans can read our face,
That we were here and care about this place.

So don't be afraid, come on and pony up,
We need to fill this empty space up,
Dig in your wallets and let the green flow,
So we can buy four for jack stands ya know.

And Levi, poor Levi, his young girls well known,
Your avatar on the brick, can't be shown,
So put down the camera, mouse and let loose some cash,
Or you will be subect to everyone's wrathful bash.

Oops sorry, a couple of you asked for totals, huh?

PayPal: $332.00 (after the fees)
Checks: $265.00

Total: $597.00

Our 1st Brick: 12x12 = $500

Our 2ndBrick: 8x8 = $250 (1st choice for a 2nd)
4x8 = $150 (2nd choice for a 2nd)

8x8 has 6 lines of Text
4x8 has 3 lines of Text.

NOTE: the $597 does NOT include my own personal donation.... I was going to make up any difference between what we've rec'd AND the cost for two Bricks,
one $500 & one $150, until......

I mentioned to VegasRacer that we were that close and I wanted to get a 2nd Brick. John(V.R.) said why don't we go for a 8x8 2nd Brick, see if a little more money comes in, which it sounds like it will now. THANKS EVERYONE!

We think the 2nd Brick should talk about the 914's
Racing Heritage/Victories.

Examples:
PORSCHE 914
LE MANS 24 HOUR
1970 CHAMPION

Or with SIX lines of Text:

PORSCHE 914/6GT
24HR CLASS WINS:
1970 LE MANS
1971 DAYTONA
WWW.914CLUB.COM

Didn't a 914 win a Rally, the Carrera de Rally or something like that?

Some races 914's won

http://www.pbase.com/9146gt/image/25226951

Per http://www.vpracing.com/The_Cars/the_cars2.html

In 1970, Porsche introduced the competition version of its mid-engine, 914/6 roadster, the 914/6GT that won its class at Le Mans. The next year in the hands of Peter Gregg and Hurley Haywood, it would claim the inaugural Camel GT championship, going on to later win several Camel GTU crowns as well. The model was also active in SCCA National competition, and in international rallying, although it never achieved the success in either venue that it did in professional, high-end international circuit competition.

We are so close to the extra $250 we need for the 2nd 8 x 8 brick.
It looks like we only need another $153 to make it happen.
Having 6 lines of text to play with would be great.
The limit of only 15 characters per line makes it tough.

Here is some more http://www.stazak.com/914/gt/race/races.html with links to results.
Any ideas or suggestion for the 6 lines of text are welcome.
Be sure to comply with the 15 letters / spaces per line rule.

The first brick is a 12 x 12 for $500 with our logo.
The final vote is in and this is what it will look like.

The only other major class win for the GT was the sweep of 1st, 2nd and 3rd at the 1970 Marathon de la Route. It was held at the Nurburgring so it is kinda covered along with the victory in the 1000km at that track in 1971. I tried but there was no way to abbreviate it so it would fit in 15 letters or less and still make sense.

There is enough space in line 3 to have a space in LE MANS (or LEMANS) if you think that is better. The same for the dashes between the events. Either with or without, your call.

Would the first line be better as 'PORSCHE 914-6' ?

Come on guys (and gals) just a few more bucks and we are there.

Regarding the slash, makes no diff to me. It seems like on the cars, it's 914-6
but in print from the factory it's more like 914/6
right?

you're right, I think it would look better to NOT have GT on both lines.

I do know how to spell it properly with the umlauts.
I don't think that option is available.
I guess all we can do is ask and if they say no . . . . . oh well.

But you ALL have spoken, and our 2nd Brick will have the
SLASH!!! smilie_pokal.gif

914/6

I'm NOT supposed to be online right now.
I will move the Updated PAID list to the 'last' page here, somewhere around 1.30pm-ish.

Posted by: VegasRacer Oct 28 2004, 01:56 PM

I'm sure if Redshift was around he would also vote for SLASH.

Why the /6 or -6? Who cares about a 6 anyway? Again, as before, forgotten the mighty 4. sad.gif You might as well join the pinky lifters.

Posted by: Scott Carlberg Oct 28 2004, 02:05 PM

I *think* that all, if not most, of the victories listed on our 2nd brick were done by 914's powered by Sixes, that's why?

914-4's are awesome too, no doubt. aktion035.gif

Posted by: SLITS Oct 28 2004, 03:19 PM

I know - I just wanted to be antagonistic as I usually am. Yack.gif And to remember all those who have campaigned the dauntless 4s for years in SCCA and other venues.

So when are the bricks going to be put out there? Also, who is going to go and photograph them and post the pictures so we can see them? I for one would go but it is geographically undesireable.

Posted by: carreraguy Oct 30 2004, 04:18 PM

Unless someone closer to Laguna Seca/Monterey volunteers, I'll be glad to take and forward the pics of the bricks after installation.

I *think* I read somewhere that they will begin the Brick project in late Dec or early January.
I believe they want the project done in time for the 2005 season.

As for taking pictures of our Bricks, ok and the others...
everytime I go to the track, for now on, for ever & ever!

I meant to take a picture of the area at the American Le Mans race a couple of weeks ago....
I forgot! ohmy.gif headbang.gif headbang.gif headbang.gif
